An equivalent non-linearization approach has been implemented in order to find the response of a beam-stop system subjected to a boundary excitation modelled as a stochastic process. In particular the original bilinear impact force has been replaced by a cubic one, whose coefficients have been evaluated by stochastically minimising the difference between the original and the equivalent systems. The applications have evidenced an optimum level of accuracy, if compared with the results of the classical stochastic linearization approach.
