Satisfaction Level of Physiotherapy Students in North India
Background: Physiotherapy or physical therapy is one of the allied health services that is used to improve patient's quality of life without use of drugs. This service helps in restoration and improvement of function by applying manual therapy, physical modalities, therapeutic exercises and hydrotherapy etc. Study Design: A Randomized Survey Design. Objectives: To find out satisfaction level among physiotherapy students of North India. Method: Total 161 students from Physiotherapy colleges of North India, voluntary participated in the study among which 55 were male and 106 were female. Inclusion criteria were students of third-year and fourthyear of Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree; both male and female with age limit 19-24 years. First-year and second-year students, Postgraduate students, interns and professionals were excluded from the study. Results: Average score of DREEM Questionnaire was 127. In the questionnaire, there were five questions (i.e. 1, 2, 10, 18 & 19) that scored highest value and showed high satisfaction rate. Total 142 students (88.19%) were happy to choose this particular field while 19 students (11.18%) were unhappy. Conclusion: Out of 161 students, 142 students (88.19%) were happy to choose Physiotherapy field. Physiotherapy students of North India have high satisfaction level towards Physiotherapy course.

Physiotherapy as an independent curriculum has existed only one decade in Estonia. During this period the curriculum has changed and developed remarkably due to the Bologna Process. Specific feedback about the curriculum from the students who have graduated has not been received. Thus, the aim of the study was to estimate how the physiotherapy students who have graduated from University of Tartu assess the physiotherapy curriculum (theoretical knowledge, practical skills and generic competences). Altogether twenty-nine former students (females=25; males=4) participated in this study. All the participants filled in an anonymous questionnaire. Most of them graduated from the University of Tartu in 2010. 82.2% of the participants had gained Bachelorʼs and 17.8% Masterʼs Degrees. Approximately 80% of the participants work as physical therapists, mostly in hospitals (37.9%). According to the participants the strengths of the curriculum are: highly qualified professionals are included in the study process; lecturers are also professional physical therapists; strong theoretical basis and versatile practical trainings in school and in clinical environment; modern practical training placements all over Estonia. Weaknesses of the curriculum are as follows: basic subjects are sometimes superficial and there is a lack of specialization (due to lack of time in the three-year study program);

Physiotherapy is an emerging field in healthcare with innumerable benefits and its demand continues to increase. The higher secondary students are eligible to pursue Bachelor of Physiotherapy programme. It is important to have awareness regarding the profession that is related to their field of study. Aim: To find awareness of higher secondary students about physiotherapy as a career option and also to find common source of information about the profession. Materials and methods: The cross sectional study was undertaken with the help of a Questionnaire which was distributed to 329 higher secondary students with biology as elective subject. Data was collected and statistically analyzed. Result: 48% students said Physiotherapy is part of medical course, 65.6% students knew the role of physiotherapy in orthopedic conditions, 54% participants thought that physiotherapist cannot be the first contact practitioner, 47% participants said that they can prescribe medicine, 62% thought average income of physiotherapist per month is more than Rs20, 000 and 34% received information through professionals.46% students wanted to pursue Physiotherapy as their career. Conclusion: The study indicated that higher secondary students of Nagpur city are still not completely aware of the scope of physiotherapy profession. Professionals and mass media have been identified as the major source of information about the profession. Appropriate measures have to be taken to create a good attitude towards the profession through these influential sources.

Introduction: The syllabus is a description and plan for a course and, if well written, may be a tool that improves student learning, facilitates faculty teaching, improves communications between faculty members about their courses, and assists with monitoring program quality. The level of education for physical therapists should reflect the current and future needs of professional practice and society and changes in physical therapy roles and function as well as changes in the legislation that regulates physical therapy practice. Therefore, through our study, we would assess the existing contents and features of syllabi of various universities conducting Undergraduate Physical Therapy education program in Northern India and throw a light whether they are diverse or in consonance to each other. Aim and Objective: To study the contents and features of various syllabi for Undergraduate Physiotherapy education conducted by various Universities and Institutes of Northern India with special focus on Orthopaedics and relevant subjects. Materials and Methods: There are 24 universities conducting Undergraduate Physiotherapy program in Northern India, 20 universities were found suitable out of which data of 19 universities could be collected. The data was collected by personal visit, from official website of universities, via e-mail and by other sources. The data collected includes course scheme-syllabus, transcript, subject credits and examination scheme Results: The results of this study show that features of syllabi in these universities differ on the basis of total number of academic hours, subject allocation in various years, number of theory and practical hours allotted, percentage weight age of hours, maximum marks, and percentage weight age of marks of each subject. Conclusion: This study concludes that syllabus of the Bachelors of Physiotherapy program in Northern India is variable. The variability is not seen in the program structure rather in: Total number of subjects, Curriculum hours allotted to each subject, Subject allocation in various years, Examination system-annual or semester system, Maximum marks allotted to a subject in the university examination scheme, Total academic hours in a year, Hours allotted for clinical training.
Reforming the Physiotherapy Curriculum in India: Identifying Issues and Proposing Solutions
The curriculum for physiotherapy education in a few nations faces challenges that prevent it from being optimally aligned with contemporary healthcare needs. This discussion aims to identify these issues and propose solutions to improve the efficiency and relevance of the curriculum in India. The revised Bachelor of Physiotherapy syllabus offers a comprehensive and structured curriculum that encompasses foundational sciences, clinical knowledge, research skills, and interdisciplinary subjects. Moreover, incorporating practical components, involving physiotherapist teachers, and prioritizing speciality and research at the master's level, the proposed syllabi aim to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in the field.
AWARENESS AND ATTITUDE TOWARDS PHYSIOTHERAPY AMONG HIGHER SECONDARY STUDENTS: A PILOT SURVEY STUDY
Background: Physiotherapy is a health care profession. Physiotherapy plays a significant role in all levels of health. The higher secondary students are potential students for Bachelor of Physiotherapy programme. It is important to have good awareness and positive attitude about various occupation and professions that are related to his/her field of study. This study aimed at identifying the awareness level and their attitude about the profession which may provide adequate information to strategize the measures to enhance it further. Objective: To study the awareness and attitude about Physiotherapy among higher secondary students. Materials and Methods: A survey was conducted using a questionnaire that was modified and adapted with permission from a similar study done by Thusharike D. Dissanyaka. Forty five higher secondary students with science group from Sakthi tuition center, Thanjavur participated in this study. The questionnaire was analyzed and interpreted. Results: Only 9% aware of all four (Manual therapy, Ice/heat therapy, hydrotherapy, electrotherapy & exercise therapy) components of Physiotherapy. The most commonly known treatment means of Physiotherapy is manual therapy followed by exercise therapy and electrotherapy and the least awareness is about hydrotherapy technique. The highest number of respondents (80%) replied Physiotherapy is used in musculoskeletal conditions, and only 17% replied Physiotherapy is used in peadiatrics. Conclusion and Clinical Implication: The awareness about the profession is less satisfactory. Appropriate measures have to be taken to increase the awareness and create a good attitude towards the Physiotherapy profession .

Background: In the healthcare sector, professions like those of Doctors and Nurses are well known than the other paramedical professions like Physiotherapy. However, the physiotherapist plays a major role in providing health care and it is a highly recognized profession worldwide. Physiotherapists work in a wide-ranging of health settings including Cardio-Pulmonary, Neurological and Orthopedic Conditions, occupational health and Ergonomic factors, sports Injuries and care of the elderly. The aim of this study was to assess the level of awareness about physiotherapy among high school students and to assess the sources form which they could obtain information regarding physiotherapy. Need Of The Study: When planning one's future career, it is important to have information about various occupations and professions that are related to his/her field of study. Even though a few people have an idea about their future career pathways in advance, majority of them are uncertain about it. For most people, these plans are usually made during their early and late adolescence. A majority of school children are also unaware about career opportunities open to them and most of them analyse their career prospects by looking at the social status of the occupation of their choice and the opportunities for career development. Students choose physiotherapy as a Optional that after they get don't enough score to get MBBS and other known field, here need arise to know about the Physiotherapy profession as a Mandatory for every aspects of life process. Methodology: A survey was implemented in this study. The study was undertaken with the help of a Questionnaire which was distributed to 131 higher secondary students with biology as elective subject. Result: The overall awareness about physiotherapy was approximately 53.38%. The true answer rates for these questions were 25% and 45.9% respectively. 9.16% of the study population was not aware of treatment methods used in physiotherapy, and 36% did not know when to meet a physiotherapist. 21.37% of students were unaware about the uses of physiotherapy in other disease conditions than sports injuries, mainly in chest conditions like bronchitis (37%). Conclusion: The students have a moderate awareness about Physiotherapy; the awareness about the role of Physiotherapy in specialties other than orthopaedics is less satisfactory.

Background: Within the physiotherapy profession, there are increasing expectations concerning specialization and lifelong learning. As a result, master's degree studies are becoming more popular as a means of professional advancement. Physiotherapists from Indian background might be facing a lot of hurdles that led to descent for a Master's in Physiotherapy. Hence, there is a need to explore the career pathways of graduates and the influence of Master's education on their careers. Objective: To study the awareness of higher education opportunities following completion of the Bachelor of Physiotherapy. Methodology: The population of the study included all post-graduation qualified physiotherapists. For this purpose, a well-structured questionnaire was utilised. Results: In all 60 valid responses were received. The Master's program was deemed beneficial by 95% of participants. Whereas 82% of participants found that acquiring a master's degree had influenced their career. Conclusion: There was a positive perspective noted among physiotherapists. A greater number and diversity of physiotherapists are considering post-graduation studies as a viable career option that would help them achieve greater heights in their careers.
Physiotherapy students’ expectations and career choice in Turkey

The purpose of this study was to determine physiotherapy students' perceptions and expectations related to their physiotherapy profession and education. Method: Two hundred and thirty two students (68 were first-year students, 72 were second-year students, 57 were third-year students, and 35 were fourth-year students) who were studying in the School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation of Dokuz Eylül University in the 2012-2013 academic year and who accepted to participate in the research were consisted in the sample of the study. Students were aware of their future profession: 73.5% of first-year students, 63.8% of second-year students, 59.6% of third-year students, and 57.1% of fourth-year students. Reasons for preferring physiotherapy were community perception and career opportunities. More than 92% of the students declared they were positively affected by acquaintances and friends in choosing physiotherapy. Results: Analyzed in terms of years of education, there were no differences between students' rights and responsibility levels, in terms of their vocational anxiety and knowledge levels. The major numbers of students had adequate information about physiotherapy profession and they did not have worries about finding a job after graduation. Conclusion: Main factors for student's decision to study physiotherapy were their career expectations and community perception.
Students' Perception of the Educational Environment in an Indian Physiotherapy College

Purpose: Purpose: Educational environment has a significant impact on students' behavior, academic progress and quality of learning. The aim of this study was to evaluate the students' perception of their learning environment in an Indian physiotherapy college and compare their perceptions in terms of demographic attributes and academic level. Methods: Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 420 undergraduate physiotherapy students. The Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure (DREEM), a 50-item, self-administered inventory was employed to assess the student's perception of learning environment. It comprises of five domains: students' perceptions of learning; students' perceptions of teachers; students' academic self-perceptions; students' perceptions of atmosphere and students' social self-perceptions. Descriptive statistics, t-test and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used to analyze data. P-value < 0.05 was considered as significant. Results: Results: The mean DREEM score was 122.66 ± 17.39 reflecting a more of positive than negative educational environment in this institution. There was a significant difference in the overall DREEM score (p = 0.000) based on the year of study with highest mean score in first year (127.57 ± 13.81). Evaluating the sub-domains of perception, the students in all the years had a more positive perception of learning (29.22 ± 5.35), their perception of teachers moved in the right direction (26.52 ± 5.05), their academic self-perception was more on the positive side (21.23± 3.72), they had a more positive perception of atmosphere (28.56± 5.64) and their social self-perception could be graded as not too bad (17.13 ±3.08). No significant gender difference was noted for overall DREEM score and all domain scores. Conclusion: Conclusion: The present study revealed that all undergraduate physiotherapy students perceived their educational environment positively. However, some areas require remedial measures in order to enhance the educational experience. Advocating problem-based learning, student mentorship, counseling and workshops on teaching-learning for teachers might enable us to enrich our learning environment.
