Stratified and purposive sampling technique in selecting nine hundred and seventy (970) respondents. It applied a questionnaire and In-depth interview in collecting the data. Nine hundred and fifty (950) questionnaires and twenty (20) in-depth responses were retrieved and analyzed. Findings revealed that the private security guards provide security services to their clients, who are the majority private organisations, financial institutions, commercial centres, supermarkets, ministries, directorates, agencies, public places, market/ business centres and limited households. They guard, patrol, supervise, regulate, restrict and direct the movement of persons, vehicles and instruments. The PSGC staffing is based on security experience and physical fitness with less consideration on educational qualifications; they are used as maids, messengers, watch men, cleaners and sometimes with no definite role by the clients. The paper recommends a review on the regulation to a modern standard of crime prevention.
