Numerical Analysis of Cu + Al 2 O 3 / H 2 O Hybrid Nanofluid of Streamwise and Cross Flow with Thermal Radiation Effect: Duality and Stability

Mathematical Problems in Engineering

The motion of water conveying copper and aluminum nanoparticles on a heated moving sheet when thermal radiation and stretching/shrinking surface is significant and is investigated in this study to announce the increasing effects of volume fractions, thermal radiation, and moving parameters on this transport phenomenon. Furthermore, the flow of a Cu − Al 2 O 3 /water hybrid nanofluid across a heated moving sheet has been studied in both cross and streamwise directions. Thermal radiation effect is also considered, as this effect along with cross flow has not yet been investigated for the hybrid nanofluid in the published literature. Two distinct types of nanoparticles, namely, Al 2 O 3 (alumina) and Cu (copper), have been used to prepare hybrid nanofluid where water is considered as a base fluid. The system of nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs) has been transferred to ordinary differential equations (ODEs) by compatible transformations before solving them by employing the...

Nanofluid Flow over a Permeable Surface with Convective Boundary Conditions and Radiative Heat Transfer

Mathematical Problems in Engineering, 2013

We investigate the effects of thermal radiation and convective boundary conditions on heat and mass transfer in nanofluid flow over a permeable flat plate. The mathematical model for the nanofluid incorporates variations in the nanoparticle volume fraction of up to 20%. The performance of two water-based nanofluids, namely, stable suspensions of copper and gold nanoparticles in water was investigated. The governing partial differential equations were transformed into ordinary ones using a similarity transformation and solved numerically. The numerical results were validated by comparison with previously published results in the literature. The main focus of this paper is to study the fluid and surface parameters such as the radiation parameter, and suction/injection parameter, solute concentration profiles, as well as the skin friction coefficient and heat and mass transfer rates were conducted.

Journal of Nanomaterials, 2022

The analysis of nanofluid dynamics in a bounded domain attained much attention of the researchers, engineers, and industrialists. These fluids became much popular in the researcher’s community due to their broad uses regarding the heat transfer in various industries and fluid flowing in engine and in aerodynamics as well. Therefore, the analysis of Cu-kerosene oil and Cu-water is organized between two Riga plates with the novel effects of thermal radiations and surface convection. The problem reduced in the form of dimensionless system and then solved by employing variational iteration and variation of parameter methods. For the sake of validity, the results checked with numerical scheme and found to be excellent. Further, it is examined that the nanofluids move slowly by strengthen Cu fraction factor. The temperature of Cu-kerosene oil and Cu-water significantly rises due to inducing thermal radiations and surface convection. The behaviour of shear stresses is in reverse proportion...

The graphical representation of different parameters including Mixed convection, Power-law exponent, Buoyancy ratio parameter, Eckert number are illustrated on velocity, temperature, the concentration of nanoparticles profiles and explained in detail. Skin friction coefficient, heat transfer rate, and mass tran...

Heat Transfer of Hybrid-nanofluids Flow Past a Permeable Flat Surface with Different Volume Fractions

2019

Nowadays, the preparation, characterization, and modeling of nanofluids are deliberated in plenty to improve the heat transfer effects. Therefore, this paper centers on the heat transfer effects of three separate hybrid nanoparticles such as Al2O3-SiO2, Al2O3-TiO2, and TiO2-SiO2 with a base fluid such as water to gratify the advances. Analytical investigations for the Marangoni convection of different hybrid nanofluids over the flat surface for the cases such as suction, injection and impermeable were analyzed. A validation table for the comparison between analytical and numerical studies is tabulated. The influence of the hybrid nanoparticles solid volume fraction and the wall mass transfer parameter are mentioned through graphs at the side of the heat transfer rate tabulation. The impact of solid volume fraction decelerates the velocity distribution and raises the temperature distribution for all the three hybrid nanofluids in the cases of suction, impermeable, and injection. Whil...

Physical quantities such as skin frication coefficient, local heat, computed.

Boundary Layer Flow and Heat Transfer of Al2O3-TiO2/Water Hybrid Nanofluid over a Permeable Moving Plate

Symmetry, 2020

Hybrid nanofluid is considered a new type of nanofluid and is further used to increase the heat transfer efficiency. This paper explores the two-dimensional steady axisymmetric boundary layer which contains water (base fluid) and two different nanoparticles to form a hybrid nanofluid over a permeable moving plate. The plate is suspected to move to the free stream in the similar or opposite direction. Similarity transformation is introduced in order to convert the nonlinear partial differential equation of the governing equation into a system of ordinary differential equations (ODEs). Then, the ODEs are solved using bvp4c in MATLAB 2019a software. The mathematical hybrid nanofluid and boundary conditions under the effect of suction, S, and the concentration of nanoparticles, ϕ 1 (Al2O3) and ϕ 2 (TiO2) are taken into account. Numerical results are graphically described for the skin friction coefficient, C f , and local Nusselt number, N u x , as well as velocity and temperature profil...

CFD Letters

Hybrid nanofluid is considered a modern and improvised form of nanofluid which usually used to enhance the performance of heat transfer in fluid flow systems. Previous studies found hybrid nanofluid offered a wide range of applications and this opened up numerous new opportunities to further explore the unknown behaviour of hybrid nanofluid under different body geometries and physical parameters. This paper numerically studied a two-dimensional mixed convection and radiative Al2O3-Cu/H2O hybrid nanofluid flow over a vertical exponentially shrinking sheet with partial slip conditions. Exponential similarity variables transformed the governing system of partial differential equations into a system of ord...

2021

The effect of nanoparticle shape on the natural convection heat transfer of Cu-Al2O3/water hybrid nanofluid inside a U-shaped enclosure is presented in this paper. The governing equations are transformed into the dimensionless form using dimensionless variables. A three-node triangular finite element method is used with the Newton-Raphson method to solve the problem numerically. The streamlines and isotherms as well as the local and average Nusselt numbers are presented for the fluid flow with Rayleigh number of 10 to 10.It is found that blade nanoparticle shape produces the highest heat transfer rate while sphere is the lowest.

Heat Transfer Enhancement and Boundary Layer Separations for a Hybrid Nanofluid Flow past an Isothermal Cylinder

Applied and Computational Mechanics, 2021

Unsteady magnetohydrodynamic mixed convection flow of an incompressible hybrid nanofluid (Cu-Al2O3/water) past an isothermal cylinder with thermal radiation effect has been studied. Appropriate non-dimensional variables are initiated to reduce the governing equations into a convenient form. By utilizing the procedure of finite difference, reduced equations are then solved for all time. Besides, series solutions are obtained using perturbation technique for short time and asymptotic method for long time which agree with the acquired numerical solution up to a good accuracy. When the mixed convection parameter Ri, radiation conduction parameter Rd, magnetic field parameter M and the volume fractions of nanoparticles ϕ1 and ϕ2 are increased, the local skin friction coefficient and the local Nusselt number are found to increase. Results revealed that the hybrid nanofluid (Cu-Al2O3/water) enhances the heat transfer about 28.28% in comparison to the Al2O3-water nanofluid and about 51.15% ...
