The effect of a new integrated system on the disease protection and yield increase in potato was studied. The proposed scheme includes the pre-planting treatment of seed tubers with modulated low-frequency pulse electric field (EF), in-furrow application of the azoxystrobin-containing Quadris fungicide during the planting, and the use of the Izabion biofertilizer, containing 62.5% of amino acids and peptides, in the tank mix with standard fungicides for the routine spraying of plants. The trials included six experimental schemes: (1) EF treatment followed by the standard scheme of fungicidal treatments; (2) Quadris application followed by the standard scheme of treatments; (3) use of the tank mix of Izabion and fungicides according to the standard scheme of treatment; (4) standard scheme of treatment (treated control) including five fungicidal sprayings (fluazinam (Shirlan), mephenoxam+mancoceb (Ridomil Gold MC, 2x), mandipropamid+diphenoconazol (Revus+Skor), and fluazinam (Shirlan)); (5) integrated protection scheme including all mentioned treatments; (6) unprotected control (no any treatments). The following parameters were assessed: the development of rhizoctonia infection on shoots, the development of late and early blight infections on vegetating plants, and the development of rhizoctonia and silver scurf infections on daughter tubers. In addition, the germination level of mother tubers was observed. The proposed integrated scheme significantly reduced the harmfullness of all studied plant diseases. Comparing to the treated control, the tested experimental scheme increased the yield and the marketable fraction of potato tubers by 8.5 t/ha and 33%, respectively; comparing to the unprotected control, the total increase made 14.7 t/ha and 53%, respectively, that makes it to be very promising for the potato-growing industry.

Results from the studies of the yield parameters of Hungarian sunflower after pre-sowing electromagnetic treatment of the seeds: It has been established that the pre-sowing electromagnetic treatment effected with the selected values of the controllable factors stimulates an increase in the length of achene of the hybrid Nyh-1F1F. The resulting sunflower achene is of smaller thickness for both hybrids Nyh- 1F1F and Nyh-1F1К; the linear dimensions of the achene (length, breadth and thickness) are suppressed for the variety KV; the growth of the kernel of the achene is stimulated within the range of (6,412,9)%, also for the variety KV. After the three-step pre-sowing electromagnetic treatment of the seeds of sunflower hybrids and varieties, the following effects have been established: an increase in the yield of the variety KV by nearly 42% as compared to the reference specimen, under treatment with initial values of the controllable factors: voltage U1= 8кV and duration of treatment ...

Microgreens’ popularity is increasing worldwide, and many efforts are focused on novel techniques that could increase fresh production without affecting the quality and the shelf life of the young plants. Three species of microgreens (kale, durum wheat, and spinach) were cultivated in a greenhouse experiment in November–December 2020. Pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) was applied at three different growth stages (seed, newly developed plant, and before harvest) and three different times of exposure at each stage, while untreated seeds were used as control. According to the results, certain PEMF treatments increased fresh weight for all three plant species, while dry weight was higher in the treated plants for wheat and spinach, compared to the control. As for the color parameters L*, a*, and b*, at the harvest and postharvest, PEMF treatments had no negative effects, either at harvest or at green color retention, during storage. Moreover, PEMF treatments improved green color in wh...

The increase in the yield capacity of cereal spike crops under the current change of the climatic conditions in Ukraine will have a positive tendency in the nearest future. However, sustainable grain production under sharp weather fluctuations is possible only with the agro-technological systems' improvement. The pre-sowing seed treatment with chemical synthesis pesticides remains the primary method in the agricultural industry today. However, pesticides inevitably have a negative influence on the ecosystem of any level. A more environmentally friendly seed treatment method under the intensive technology is the combination of microwave seed irradiation and seed incrustation with the plant growth regulators that increase the cereal crops' yield capacity up to 15–20 %. It is possible to reduce the negative influence of chemical measures on the quality of the cereal crops seeds by using for the seed treatment a mixture of a treatment agent with the preparations having the stimu...
Evaluation of the effect of electromagnetic treatment on the sowing qualities of triticale seeds

Sirakov, K., Álvarez, J. & Muhova, A. (2021). Evaluation of the effect of electromagnetic treatment on the sowing qualities of triticale seeds. Bulg. J. Agric. Sci., 27 (4), 699–711 The fact of applying energy stimulation is an excellent opportunity to search for alternative environmentally friendly methods and technologies to increase the yields of main crops. Pre-sowing electromagnetic treatment of triticale seeds of the cultivar Boomerang was performed according to a threefactor experiment and the symmetrical composition plan B3. The controllable factors of the treatment used, were voltage or tension (U), kilovolts (kV) between electrodes of the treatment device, exposure time (τ) in seconds and duration (T) in days of seed pre-treatment before sowing in laboratory conditions. In order to determine the optimal growth environment, which would lead to an overall positive impact on seed performance, a mathematical processing of the results obtained was carried out and mathematical m...

This experiment was carried out during the two growing seasons 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 at the experimental farm of Unit for Strawberry and Non Traditional Horticulture Crops, Horticulture Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Ain Shams University, Egypt, in order to investigate the effect of magnetic field on germination of true potato seeds (TPS), vegetative growth and potato tubers characteristics of potato plants “cv. Spunta”. The true potato seeds were exposed to three magnetic field strengths: 20-30-40 mT for three periods: 5, 10 and 15 minutes compared to untreated true potato seeds (control). Results indicated that, magnetic field treatments significantly increased the germination percentage of true potato seeds, vegetative growth parameters and improved potato tubers characteristics. Where, true potato seeds were exposed to 30 mT (magnetic strength) for 10 minutes produced the highest significant values of germination percentage, plant length, number of leaves per plant, fruit...
