Sianing from a previously unpublished 6th century AD weapon grave (SHM 27289) from Ed parish, Uppland, this paper has two main aims. One is to publish and date lhe grave and sketch its social context. The other is to collccl and present a small group of Scandinavian Vendel Period weaponry with animal figurines ((ith through Sth centuries) to which the grave's sword mounts belong. Ulf Johansson Dahre: Indigenous peoples and the right to self-determination: selfdetermination towards a new meaning? The beginning of the last decade of the 20th century has seen the end of a distinet era in international relations. This era, encompassing the years 1945-1990, was the era of decolonization, in which self-determination was defined or understood in relation to decolonization in the third world. This era also brought a distinet definition of self-determination. Entitled to self-determination were the peoples of European overseas colonies. Minorities and indigenous peoples excluded. However, a redefinition, or an extension of the concept, is ocurring. It is likely that self-determination will become a legal right of indigenous peoples, but not explicitly recognizing secession, but a right to political and social participation within the existing States. Boken kritiserar förenklingar i det politiska samtalet där människor klumpas samman i kategoriska och grova kategorier. För det politiska partiet SD hamnar alla invandrare i en liknande kategori där deras individuella särdrag försvinner. För de sekulära humanisterna blir kritiken av all religion lätt onyanserad. Genom att framställa religion i motsats till upplysning bidrar diskursen till att misstänkliggöra särskilt de religioner som ses som mer exotiska som islam och judendom. Boken i innehåller också ett antal resonerande kapitel om det religiösa och sekulära språket som författaren hävdar inte är varandra uteslutande.
