A Comparative Study on Resiliency and Stress Coping Strategies among Individual and Team Elite Athletes and Non-Athletes

This study attempted to compare the resilience and stress coping strategies among the elite team and individual athletes, and non-athletes. The statistical population consisted of the premier league champions in iran for volley-ball, handball, basketball, archery, badminton, karate and non-athlete students at islamic azad university, karaj branch. The sample consisted of 180 subjects, including 60 athletes in individual sports, 60 athletes in team sports and 60 subjects in the non-athlete group, selected randomly in this research. The instrument used for data collec-tion included connor-davidson's resilience scale (2003) and yu stress coping strategies questionnaire (2000). The statistical data were analyzed through both descriptive and inferential statistics in spss. In this study, the descrip-tive statistical involved several indicators such as mean, standard deviation, tables and graphs for describing the data. As for the inferential statistical, the shapiro-wilk and levine tests were applied to determine the normality of the data. Moreover, the one-way anova was used to compare the mean values at significance level of p=0.05. This study showed that there is no significant difference between mean scores of resilience and stress coping strate-gies through intuition, emotion, problem, avoidance among athletes of individual and team sports and non-athletes. Furthermore, the athlete group was better than the non-athlete group in terms of resilience and coping strategies, which was not significant.

PSYCHOLOGICAL RESILIENCE IN STUDENT ATHLETES AND COMPETITIVE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

This research aims to analyze the relationship between sports age and psychological resilience level in gender, biological age, sports age, branch, and gender of studentathletes and competitive university students. "Personal Information Form" was used to determine the various demographic characteristics of the participants, and the "Short Resilience Scale" was used to determine the levels of resilience. According to the study's findings, there is a significant difference between psychological resilience and the sports age of male athletes in terms of sports age and gender. There is no significant difference between psychological resilience and sports age of female athletes in terms of biological age, branch, and gender. According to the research results, sports age is more effective than biological age on psychological resilience. As the duration of doing sports increases in males, psychological resilience develops, but the same is not valid for females. In addition, male students are more psychologically resilient than female students, and those who do individual sports are psychologically more resilient than those who do team sports. According to the results of the research, it can be concluded that psychological endurance level may differ depending on various circumstances.

Several of the foremost renowned athletes within the world all have one factor in common; they need to achieve extraordinary sports performances, like earning many Olympic or World championship titles and world records, coming into them into the terribly exclusive team of world's best athletes. On the opposite hand, despite sharing this similarity, it's straightforward to understand that there are unit major variations among them. Indeed, every contestant presents terribly specific attributes that once related to many years of high-quality coaching, area unit closely associated with their outstanding sports performances. The purpose of the current research is to study resilience, the satisfaction and life quality in athletes. In spite of the fact that individuals flexibility research has distinguished the qualities of elite sports teams that emphatically adjust to difficulty, further exploration is needed to see how strong individual work. The goal of this investigation, along these lines, was to investigate the psychosocial measures supporting an individual's strength in a world-class sport. Consequently, to additional add to the structure assemblage of exploration, this investigation inspects the efficacy of resilience, satisfaction, and life quality of 77 athletes (39 females and 38 males). Standardized scales were used in the research to measure the variables. The results revealed that both the Life Quality and Resilience of athletes are positively correlated with each other. As both of the variables serves as important contributors to the life of athletes. However, the association between Resilience, Life Quality, and Satisfaction in male and female athletes needs further more investigation. Government should introduce programmes that can help increase resilience, satisfaction and life quality of athletes.

Background and Study Aim. The ability to turn back from stressful experiences quickly and efficiently is essential for any athlete who performs in high-level competition. Measuring the degree to which athletes deal with adversity, setbacks, and failure has become the area of concern in the field of resilience. The main aim of the study was to develop, validate and test the reliability of a new index of measurement that can evaluate the level of athletes’ resilience. Material and Methods. The first phase of the study is developing 37 items of the Athletes Resilience Index (ARI-37) based on previous qualitative data. Relation of resilience whit sport achievement and mental health in a sample of athletes

This study was aimed to investigate the association of resilience with sport achievement and menatal health in a sample of athletes. One hundred and thrty-nine athletes (96 males, 43 females) were included in this study. All participants completed Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) and Mental Health Inventory (MHI). The athletes' coaches were asked to rate the Sport Achievement Scale (SAS) in order to measure athletes' sport achievement. The results revealed that resilience was positively associated with sport achievement and psychological well-being, and negatively associated with psychological distress. It can be concluded that resilience is associated with sport achievement and mental health.

Impact of Resilience on Stress and Recovery in Athletes

Introduction: Resilience is a positive psychological characteristic that reflects an individual's capacity to better perceive, deal with, and overcome adversity; the sports environment is replete with adversities, which increase athletes' stress levels and may lead to undesirable outcomes. Relationship Between Resilience and Coping Strategies in Competitive Sport

Resilience is important in sport performers to withstand the pressure they experience. This study analyzed the relationship among resilient qualities and coping strategies in 235 Spanish athletes (126 males, 109 females; M age = 20.7 yr) who practiced different sports (79.1% team sports, 20.9% individual sports). They were evaluated at the beginning of the last competitive mesocycle and after an important competition. Coping strategies and level of resilient qualities were measured by the Coping Inventory for Competitive Sport and the Resilience Scale. There was no significant difference in resilience scores between evaluations performed during the last mesocycle or competition. Psychometrics Properties and Normalization of Persian Version of Resiliency Questionnaire Among Athletes and Non-athletes Students

The purpose of present research was to the psychometrics properties and normalization of Persian version of resiliency questionnaire among athletes and non-athletes students. Resilience and recovery-stress in competitive athletes

Resumen: La resiliencia es un constructo importante en el deporte ya que los atletas deben enfrentarse de manera continua a un amplio rango de factores estresantes para alcanzar un rendimiento óptimo. El propósito de este estudio fue analizar cómo influye el perfil resiliente en los niveles de recuperación-estrés del deportista de competición. La muestra estuvo formada por 235 deportistas (126 hombres y 109 mujeres) con edades entre los 15 y los 35 años (M edad = 20.7, SD = 4.3) de diferentes modalidades deportivas que fueron evaluados en dos ocasiones, al principio del último mesociclo competitivo e inmediatamente después de la competición más importante de la temporada. Se registraron los niveles de recuperaciónestrés y de resiliencia por medio de las versiones españolas del Cuestionario de Recuperación-Estrés (RESTQ-Sport) y de la Escala de Resiliencia. No se pusieron de manifiesto diferencias en la resiliencia entre las evaluaciones realizadas antes del último mesociclo o al final de la competición, pero las puntuaciones en los factores de estrés del RESTQ-Sport se incrementaron significativamente en la segunda evaluación. Los valores de resiliencia correlacionaron positivamente con los alcanzados en los factores de recuperación y negativamente con los correspondientes a los factores de estrés del RESTQ-Sport. Los sujetos con una resiliencia elevada eran quienes mostraban puntuaciones más altas en los factores de recuperación y más reducidas en los factores de estrés. A la vista de nuestros resultados, unos mayores niveles de resiliencia parecen influir de manera positiva sobre los procesos de recuperación-estrés.
