Quality of clothing fabrics in terms of their comfort properties
2016
Quality of various clothing woven fabrics with respect to their comfort properties, such as electro-physical properties, air permeability, and compression properties has been studied. Fabrics are produced from cotton and cotton/polyester fibre blends in plain, twill, satin and basket weave. Results show that cotton fabrics have lower values of the volume resistivity, air permeability and compressive resilience but higher values of effective relative dielectric permeability and compressibility as compared to fabrics that have been produced from cotton/PES fibre blends. Regression analysis shows a strong linear correlative relationship between the air permeability and the porosity of the woven fabrics with very high coefficient of linear correlation (0.9807). It is also observed that comfort properties are determined by the structure of woven fabrics (raw material composition, type of weave) as well as by the fabrics surface condition. Findings of the studies have been used for estima...
The Influence of the Mixture of Fiber Composition and Secondary Material Resources on the Technological and Mechanical Properties of Fabric Intended for Special Clothin, 2023
in this article, 66.4% cotton fiber with 27.0% viscose fiber+6.6% nitron fiber secondary material resources for hemp yarn, 66.4% cotton fiber with 27.0% lavsan fiber+6.6% nitron fiber secondary material resources, 66.4% cotton fiber with 27.0% nitron fiber+6.6% cotton fiber secondary material resources, 66.4% cotton fiber with 27.0% lavsan fiber+6.6% viscose fiber secondary material resources. 100% cotton fibers were used as a thread to produce sari weaves and their technological and mechanical properties were determined.
Analysis of some Physical and Mechanical Properties of Selected Fabrics
2013
In text ile production technology, one of the objectives of the manufacturer is to produce high quality fabrics or garment which will satisfy the customers' need both in serviceability and in price. In this study, a comparative study was made on the properties of Ny lon 6.6, Nylon 6, Kevlar 49, and E-glass fabric. This co mparison was based on properties such as yarn count, yarn crimp, fabric sett, fabric thickness, abrasion resistance, crease recovery/resistance, fabric shrinkage and fabric flammability. It is evident from the result obtained that these fabrics posses unique properties which result fro m the type of fiber used, with a character of their own that can be optimized for suitable end-use. The fabrics have value for their end-use performance, strength and protective characteristics. This study reveals that the performance o f any text ile material is dependent upon a co mbination of inherent fiber properties, as well as the geo metrical arrangement of fiber in yarns and fabric.
A Review on Nonwoven Fabrics Used in Apparel
We know that nonwoven fabrics are one of the oldest and simplest textile fabrics. Its classic example is felt. The first well documented discovery of felt dates back 3500-3000 BC. It was made from hairs of various animals. Primarily nonwoven fabrics were utilized only in protective clothing and shelters (tents), but since last few years nonwoven industry has grown abruptly and this unconventional trend fabric apart from its application in geo-textiles, nappies, filters, bags, etc. have now started to find its application into the fashion apparel industry also. This has become possible due to the research and development in the properties of nonwoven fabrics. Unlike traditional fabric manufacturing process where fibers are converted into the yarn and then weaved to form a fabric, nonwoven fabrics are directly obtained from fibers. A nonwoven material offers number of advantages over traditional fabrics, cost savings being the most obvious. In the late 1960's there were few attempts to market disposable dresses but could not succeed. Recent research has resulted in fabrics with better drape, hand, durability, stretch and recovery. So, now it is extensively finding its application in the apparel industry for interlinings, clothing and glove insulation, bra and shoulder padding components. These enhanced characteristics have compelled us to push aside the prejudices associated with this unconventional fabric and move towards the modern concept.
Comparison of functional properties of woven and knitted denim fabrics
Textila Industria
The study was aimed to develop a knitted denim fabric and investigate its properties. The said fabric has similar visual appearance to the woven denim fabric, offering additional stretch properties. The twill effect was produced on circular knitting machine using cross terry structures. Woven denim fabric was also produced to compare its properties with knitted denim. The Physical and comfort properties of these fabrics like air permeability, thermal resistance and moisture management, were investigated. Experimental investigation of serviceability i.e Pilling was also carried out. The purpose of study is to compare both woven and knitted denim fabric properties.
Investigation of Comfort Properties of Knitted Denim
IOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2017
Knitted denim was designed by using cross terry structure on circular knitting machine. Knitted denim looks like a denim fabric which has visual appearance like woven denim. Two type of cross terry structure 2/1 and 3/1 were used which gives twill effect with 2 and 3 floats respectively. Four types of materials, cotton, polyester, flax and polypropylene were used. With four materials and two structural combinations 8 samples were produced. Comfort properties of knitted denim including moisture management, air permeability, thermal, and bursting strength were tested. For checking the inherent anti-microbial property of materials antimicrobial test was also applied. Samples containing flax and polyester were found with best results and not even a single sample was found anti-microbial.
Pielărie the Properties of Knitted Fabrics for Bio-Functional Textiles
2010
Bio-active" textiles belong to the so-called "Functional" textiles that in addition to their basic functions claim to take care of the health and hygiene of the consumer contributing to his well-being. Fabric characteristics are usually dictated by a specified end-use. Understanding the relationship between the fabric end-use and fabric properties becomes fundamental for classification, selection, and proper utilization of apparel fabrics. This study focused on the effect of knitted structures on SeaCell active/Lycra yarn knitted fabric properties. In this work, we have used three structures: single jersey, single piqué and double piqué, for production of the knitted fabrics.

In this study, the effects of vacuum steaming process parameters on physical properties, tensile properties and twist liveliness values of spun and filament 100% polyester yarns were investigated. For this purpose, yarns having different twisting coefficients and different numbers were twisted, and afterwards they were exposed to vacuum steaming at different temperatures and for different durations. Linear density, hairiness, unevenness values, tensile properties and twist liveliness of these yarns were measured before and after vacuum steaming. The results obtained were assessed by means of COSTAT and SPSS statistical analysis programs and variation analysis, and Student-Newman-Keuls tests were carried out at 5% (0.05) level of significance. The results of this study indicate that the effects of vacuum steaming temperature and duration on tensile properties, unevenness, hairiness and twist liveliness of spun polyester yarns, and tensile properties and twist liveliness of filament polyester yarns, are statistically significant.
