Psychological Stress for the Female Nurses Working in Hospitals in the Palestine

Female nurses representing big number from working force of nurses at governmental hospitals, and many demands that required from them like arrangement between their families, and home responsibility, and the hospital requirement, which eventually increase life stressor. The study goal to assess the psychological stress for the female nurses working in the south region of the Palestine. The methods used in this research quantitative approach. The study population comprised of female nurses in Hebron hospital, and bet jall hospital by giving questionnaires Nursing Stress Scale (NSS) that was designed to measure the frequency and sources of nursing stress experienced by nurses on different hospital units. Result: The level of psychological stress among the participant was mean 1.8 that was moderate. There were relation between the levels of psychological stress and age, Social status, and Family members. There were no statistically significance differences at (α≤0.05) in the level of psychological stress among female nurse's levels of psychological stress among the participant in the two governmental hospital at southern region of West Bank due to income, and hospital. The conclusions the level of psychological stress among the participant was mean 1.8 that was moderate. There were relation between the levels of psychological stress and age, Social status, and Family members.

Evaluation of nursing students' attitudes towards seeking psychological help and factors affecting their attitudes

Psychological help-seeking means to benefit different sources of support system for the difficulties people have. It is important to find out help-seeking attitudes and factors which affect these attitudes, earlier to protect, and to advance mental health. The aim of this study was to investigate nursing students' attitudes towards seeking psychological help and factors which affect their attitudes. The study sample included 248 nursing students exposed to problem based learning at Dokuz Eylül University School of Nursing in the academic year of 2006-2007. Data were collected with Help-Seeking Scale. Obtained data were evaluated with variance analysis, t-test and Mann-Whitney U test. The third and fourth year students had more favorable mean scores for interpersonal openness, being forced and confidence in counselor than the first and second year students. In view of the obtained results, it can be recommended that first and second year students should be followed more carefully in terms of psychological problems and that a longitudinal study should be conducted on students' attitudes towards seeking psychological help throughout their study period.

Investigating of Psychological Distress Level and its Association with Demographic Characteristics in Nurses

Investigating psychological distress level and its association with demographic characteristics in nurses Objectives: Nursing is a highly stressful profession due to the long hours, workload, and extreme physical and psychological demands it places on individuals and their families. Research has shown that nurses, as compared to physicians, experience less social support and job security, and that their roles are not socially recognized. This study aimed to identify the level of distress by demographic characteristics of Iranian nurses working at various hospitals in Zanjan, Iran in 2019. Methods: This descriptive correlational study targeted 264 nurses working at various hospitals in Zanjan, Iran in 2019. The random cluster sampling method was used for sample selection, and for data collection, a demographic and social characteristics form and the Kessler Psychological Distress Scale were used. Data were analyzed with SPSS statistical software (version 21), which was used to perform student's t-test and ANOVA. Results: The results from calculation of the nurses' mean score indicated that their psychological distress was at a moderate level (25.15±8.77). Gender, marital status and type of employment significantly corresponded with the nurses' levels of psychological distress (p<0.05). Furthermore, there was a significant negative relationship between age and work experience with psychological distress among the nurses (p<0.05). Conclusion: The findings derived from this study indicate that a majority of the nurses had some degree of psychological distress, which negatively affected the quality of health care they provided. Thus, appropriate steps, like in-service training for stress management, should be taken to ensure the psychological and physical health of Iranian nurses.

Cogitation on Occupational Stress and Social Support among Hospital Nurses: a CaseStudyof Zanjan Province, Iran

Despite extensive research on stressamong hospital nurses, the important effects of support and stress on care quality are notyetwell established. Similar toother jobs, nurses face stress in their routine working day. The relationship between occupational stress, social support and factors relating to each of them, among Iranian nurses are attempted to correlate. This cross-sectional analyticaldescriptive studywas carried out in 2013 in Zanjan province where 248 nurses f illed the given questionnaires including Demographic data,Work Factors, Nursing Stress Scale, and Social Integration Scale. Data were analyzed using SPSS 16.00. In our study, we found that the stress and social support were signif icantly correlated. Our f indings revealed a signif icant relation between social supports and occupational stress in nurses. Conclusively, support from supervisors and coworkers can help control nurses’ stress. In addition, both social support and occupational stress are related to three major components: job satisfaction, job security and others' attitude towards nursing. Therefore, creating a positive attitude towards nursing in society, and a suitable working environment for them is a way to increase theireff iciency.

Factors Affect Nursing Students Affiliated at Psychiatric Hospital Saudi Arabia, A Mixed Method: Basis for Program Orientation

The study identified the exposure of nursing students both male and female in a psychiatric hospital that is Madinah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In this study the data has been analyzed by considering demographics of the respondents and inferential statistics. The discussion of this study has been done by considering the results concerning age, gender, and other demographic features of the study. The study identified that nurses of 31 or more age mainly males face more stress. Further, nurses with 5 children are facing more stress while effectively managing the work-life balance. The study concluded that the role of nurses is very crucial hence they must be continuously trained and monitored to manage the stress level for their wellbeing as well as the well-being of the hospital.

Quality of Nursing Care in Psychiatric Wards of University Hospitals in Northwest of Iran from the Perceptions of Nurses

Introduction: Nursing care is considered as an essential component of health services. Patients' health improvement depends upon the quality of nursing care. As an important principle, perceptions of nurses as well as their active participation in decision-makings has an important role in the quality of services. This study aimed to determine the perception of nurses toward the quality of nursing care in psychiatric wards. Methods: In this descriptive study, we used census sampling. Seventy-six nurses employed at psychiatric wards of university hospitals in Northwest of Iran participated in this study. Quality Patient Care Scale (QUALPAC) was used to collect data. The score of each aspect and total scores were categorized as desirable, partly desirable and undesirable. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results: Findings showed that 60.5% of nurses perceived the quality of nursing care as desirable, while 65.8% and 53.9% reported the quality of physical and communicational aspects of care as desirable. Moreover, 51.3% of nurses considered the quality of care in psychosocial aspect as partly desirable. Conclusion: Although research findings indicated the desirability of care quality from the perceptions of most nurses, designing and applying educational programs and continuous evaluation are necessary to improve nursing care quality especially in psychosocial aspects in these centers.

Mental health nursing in Jordan: An investigation into experience, work stress and organizational support

Changes in mental health services have an impact on the role and practice of mental health nurses. The purpose of this study was to examine Jordanian mental health nurses' experiences of providing mental health care, their work-related stress, and organizational support received. A descriptive correlation design was used. Data were collected using self-report questionnaires from 92 mental health nurses in Jordan. The result of this study revealed that mental health nurses shared a high level of agreement on the importance of most nursing tasks. Mental health nurses reported a moderate level of stress, with a lack of resources and relationship and conflict with other professionals being the most frequent stressors. Nurses perceived a low level of support for their work from their supervisors. Work stress and conflict with other professionals had a significant, negative correlation with the perception the nurses had of their immediate supervisors (r = -0.29, P < 0.001; r = -0.31, P < 0.001). There was no significant correlation between work stress, organizational support, and the nurses' age, sex, or level of education. This study has clinical implications in terms of developing strategies for reducing stress and improving organizational support among mental health nurses, and it should help in future research.

Comparison of the quality of life, psychological well-being, and emotional self-regulation among nurse with non-nurse women in Imam Khomeini hospital, Koohdasht City, Iran

BACKGROUND: In the hospital, nurses are exposed to high levels of psychological stress. The purpose of this study was to compare the quality of life, psychological well-being, and emotional self-regulation of nurse and non-nurse women in Imam Khomeini hospital in Koohdasht City, Iran. METHODS: This was a descriptive prospective causal-comparative research. The statistical population of this study was all the women staff of Imam Khomeini hospital in Koohdasht in 2018. A sample population of 100 nurse women was selected using convenience sampling method, and 100 non-nurse women were selected via random sampling method.
