CONSUMPTION PATTERN OF FAST FOOD AMONG COLLEGE GOING GIRLS (18 -23 YEARS) OF JAIPUR CITY

Fast food consumption increase among the college going girls due to its easy availability. Fast food consumption leads to less consumption of fruits vegetables and milk products. Fast foods are easy to access, tastes good and relatively inexpensive so have created a great desire for the college going girls and the young working youth. As the college going girls are more prone to eat fast foods so, the study was aimed to assess the pattern of fast foods consumption and activity pattern of college going girls. The study was conducted on college going girls (18-23 years) of a private University (The IIS University) in Jaipur city. A total of 100 sample size was selected by the random sampling method. The data was collected by questionnaire method to see the frequency of fast food consumption among the college going girls. It was reported that majority of the samples were consuming the fast food on regular basis and they were less physically active. Though the consumption of fast foods had ill effects on the health of the girls and also their productivity but they are consumed at a very high pace.

Food consumption patterns of adolescents aged 14-16 years in Kolkata, India

Background: The nutrition transition has brought about rapid changes in the structure of the Indian diet. The replacement of traditional home-cooked meals with ready-to-eat, processed foods has contributed to an increased risk of chronic diseases in urban Indians. Improving the nutrition of Indians by promoting healthy food consumption in early life and in adolescence would help to reduce these health risks. However, little is known about the quality and quantity of foods and beverages consumed by urban Indian adolescents. Therefore, the aim of this study was to describe the food consumption patterns in a sample of urban Indian adolescents.

The background of dietary habits is complex, and it may be useful to consider factors outside the individual as well. A theory that is focusing on individual, behavioral and environmental sources of influence on human behavior is social cognitive theory, developed by Bandura (1986)This paper present the study conducted at " Nutritional and fast food habits among adolescents with reference to health in Gwalior city " during 2009-12. 200 boys and girls of 13 to 18 years were selected and interviewed randomly from schools, private and government colleges and public places of Gwalior, Laskhar and Morar which represent the whole Gwalior city.

To Assess the Eating Habits among Urban Adolescent Girls in Gurugram City

Adolescence (10-19 years) is a vulnerable period of life as many physical, psychological and cognitive development takes place in the body and mind and if the nutritional needs are not met at that time of growth it may lead to many chronic degenerative diseases later in life.. Food habits developed during this time are important for both the present and as well as their future health. If unhealthy dietary patterns are developed during this time it may lead to many serious disease later in life. For proper physical and psychological development and prevention of nutritional deficiency healthy eating habits are important during adolescent. Today, adolescents are more independent and have their own food decisions and choices. Many adolescents experience a progressive development and this will gradually augment in frequent appetite. They also need healthy foods to meet their growth demands. Food choices of adolescents have become increasingly unhealthy placing them at increased risk of malnutrition and other diseases in future. Thus, dietary decisions made in adolescence may have long term health implications. Awareness on healthy eating habits will definitely make the adolescents aware about their health and its importance in future living.

Effect of Fast Food Consumption on the Health of School Going Children (9-13YEAR)IN Lucknow District

Fast food costs relatively little and tastes good, but the negative effects on physical health last much longer than these immediate concerns. With the high-calorie meals come more fat, cholesterol, salt and sugar and therefore fewer vitamins, minerals and other nutrients than in healthier foods. Total of 100 school going student were selected from five different schools of Lucknow District. The prevalence of obesity and underweight has increased in recent years due to changes in eating habits all over the world. On the other hand eating behavior and dietary factors are as a risk factor in several important diseases such as cancer, coronary heart diseases or obesity. Therefore, we assessed the food habits of adolescents and adults girls in Mysore urban area and exploring any relationships between SES, age groups and food preference and behavior. Dietary habits are one of the modifiable risk factors for nutrition related health problems during school aged children. Fast food culture is an emerging trend among school going children. It is very convenient and tasty and peer pressure make them popular with children. But to know how students are attracted by fast foods has assumed importance in recent times.
