Investigation of self-compassioan levels of prospective teachers in terms of some variables (original) (raw)

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate whether or not the self-compassion and sub-dimensions of prospective teachers' self-compassion levels differs according to gender, department, family income levels and sense of achievement and the relation of self-compassion with age. Within this principal framework, survey model was utilized in this study in order to put forth the description of the current situation. Working group of the study consisted of 260 students studying in the departments of Science and Technology Education, Music Education, Fine Arts Education, Early Childhood Education and Primary School Education in Fatih Faculty of Education of Karadeniz Technical University during spring semester of 2010-2011 academic years. A personal information form and the self-compassion scale adapted to Turkish by Akın et al (2007) were used in this study as data collection tools.
