Kompetisi di abad ke-21 yang semakin ketat menuntut siswa menguasai keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi (higher order thinking skills). Hal ini sesuai dengan tujuan IPS, yaitu mengembangkan aspek pengetahuan, aspek sikap dan nilai, serta keterampilan pada diri siswa. Diperlukan kondisi belajar baik kondisi internal maupun kondisi eksternal untuk terjadinya proses belajar pada diri siswa. Kondisi ekternal tersebut antara lain lingkungan keluarga dan lingkungan sekolah. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendapatkan gambaran bagaimana pengaruh lingkungan keluarga dan lingkungan sekolah terhadap keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa dalam pembelajaran IPS. Lokasi penelitian dilaksanakan di 9 SMP di Kab. Kuningan. Sampel penelitian diambil sebanyak 311 orang siswa kelas IX secara acak setelah melalui proses stratifikasi populasi sekolah berdasarkan nilai rata-rata Ujian Nasional murni. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah: (1) lingkungan keluarga dan lingkungan sekolah berpengaruh terhadap keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi peserta didik dalam pembelajaran IPS, (2) lingkungan keluarga berpengaruh positif terhadap keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi peserta didik dalam pembelajaran IPS, (3) lingkungan sekolah berpengaruh positif terhadap keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi peserta didik dalam pembelajaran IPS, dan (4) terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara lingkungan keluarga, lingkungan sekolah, dan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi peserta didik dalam pembelajaran IPS dilihat berdasarkan kategori sekolah. Kata kunci : lingkungan keluarga, lingkungan sekolah, keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi.

ABSTRACTThis research is a Classroom Action Research which aims to improve the activity and student learning outcomes using around environment with mind mapping techniq in the IV grade of SDI Al-Irsyad Tarakan. This study was conducted on January 5, 2017 to february 16, 2017.The research was carried out in three cycles of learning. The objectives of this research is try to finding out the information about the effect of academic background of students on the ability of high-level thinking (HOTS) in the environment. An ex post facto method has been applied by involving n= 120 students at SMA Negeri 21 Jakarta. Data was analyzed by Paired Sample T-tes. The results revealed that there were significant differences of student’s HOTS who come from academic background of MIA (Mathematics of Natural Sciences) and the academic background of IIS (Social Sciences). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh model pembelajaran analisis lapangan dan laboratorium (MPALL) pada materi interaksi makhluk hidup dengan lingkungan terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa SMP. problem in this research is the low teaching method used in MI Islamiyah 1 Surowono, Canggu, Badas, Kediri. Therefore, researchers strive to improve the activities and learning outcomes of learners by using the surrounding environment as a learning medium. Utilization of the surrounding environment as a learning medium for social sciences to improve the learning outcomes of learners in class V MI Islamiyah 1 Surowono, Canggu, Badas, Kediri has increased from cycles I, II and III by looking at the percentage. Data after the implementation of the utilization of the surrounding environment as a learning medium always shows a significant improvement. Classically, student learning outcomes increased from 61.11% to 88.88% in the second cycle. This means that the completeness of IPS learning by applying the utilization of the surrounding environment in cycle I, cycle II and cycle III has always increased and has reached the researcher's target of 85%.
