Information Seeking Behavior among the Final Years Students Department of LISAS at the University of Sindh Jamshoro, Pakistan

Present study investigates the Information Seeking Behavior among the final years students department of LISAS at the University Of Sindh Jamshoro Pakistan the main objectives of the study were 1. To Know how Frequently LIS Student visit library 2, To investigate purpose of seeking information of LIS students and what type of information resources they usually access. 3. To identify which type of information formats used by LIS students. 4. To find out the problems faced by the LIS students while seeking information the study is based on survey method. The researchers have created a well-structured questionnaire after analyzing a number of academic works. The targeted the population consisted of final-year students in the Department of LIS at the University of Sindh Jamshoro. In order to get to the inference. Simple random survey method was used to collect the data. In order to collect the data investigators visited BLIS class rooms and distributed 85 questionnaires and response rate were 100 % The information gathered from the responses was evaluated using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS), version 23, to analyze the data. Frequency and percentile technique have been employed to analyze the data. It was revealed from the data that (52 %) of LIS Students visit the library on daily basis, followed by 30 (35 %) who visit the library 2-4 times a week it was also indicated that (52 %) access books as most required information sources, followed by 18 (21%) who access databases while 10 (11 %) mostly access Journal articles, on the response about the statement the information formats used by the LIS Students it was revealed from the data that (47 %) Students use Lecture Notes as a easily available information format while (35 %) students use internet as a convenient information format. Study also reveals the response about problems faced by the participants it was revealed from the data that (47 %) participants indicated that lack of latest information material is the major problem in seminar library faced by the students while (35 %) responded in favor of the statement about inadequate facilities in the library is second major problem. Information seeking behavior of undergraduate students of the University of Karachi, Pakistan

Every person needs information to fulfill their personal, professional, educational, teaching and learning need of information. People have different information seeking behavior to acquire, organize, use and disseminate information. The aim of this study is to identify information seeking behavior, information sources and to know their searching preferences and determine behaviors of undergraduate students in information searching at University of Karachi, Pakistan. In this study quantitative approach was applied. A survey method was used. A structured questionnaire was develop as a data collection tool. In the questionnaire two types of questions; (closed-ended and multiple choice questions) were developed. Sample size was consist of (n= 208) undergraduate students at University of Karachi, Pakistan. Simple Random Sampling method was applied to select participants. Researchers collected data from participants by describing questions personally to get accurate and maximum response rate. Survey response rate was 94%. Collected data was analyzed by using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). This study will fill the gap within existing knowledge because very less current studies have been conducted so far about information seeking behavior of undergraduate students especially in respect of Karachi, Pakistan. This study will be helpful to libraries to develop and improve resources and services as per need of their students. Teachers will be able to identify students' needs and their pattern of information.

The focus of this study to investigate the present and future needs of the users and to suggest some recommendations to improve the library collection and services.

Information Needs and Seeking Behavior of Assam University Library Users

Information plays an important role in teaching, research and development. Moreover, information is growing in ever increasing volume and rate, in every field of human activity. During the recent decades, information needs have increased in volume and variety so also the information is necessary to be reprocessed and repackaged for different types of users so as to go with their needs. The researcher in this paper attempted to find out the information needs and seeking behavior of the users of Assam University Library, Silchar. Survey method was used and data was collected from 500 users of the library by administering questionnaires. The results of the study indicate that guidance and training is required for the use of library resources and services. Textbooks and periodicals are the most popular sources of information for the users. Library automation was found to be the need of the hour by most of the faculty members and research scholars.

Libraries in a college are designed and built with the primary objective of meeting the information needs of the students of their parent Institution. In an institution like college, libraries are constructed with a view to help the students for their all-round development. It can help the students in acquiring knowledge for building their character, thinking, and for passing the examinations. It can also help the students to know the unknown things, to make the person strong through acquiring required knowledge and to help in fulfilling their aim in life. So, libraries can play an important role in students' life by supplying any type of knowledge they want through different techniques and ways. A library is said to be the heart of the institution. Now-a-days, without a suitable well-organized library, the college is not recognized by the concerned university. In every inspection of a college, the library is inspected by the inspection committee and after satisfied they will recommend for recognition of that particular college. Now, in a college, we know that there are different types of students coming to the libraries seeking different types of information. That means they need different types of information to fulfill their needs. Here, this study is undertaken to investigate the different types of information seeking behaviour of the students by taking some five college libraries of Assam. The overall purpose of this study is to find out the different types of information seeking behaviour of the students and to determine awareness of the students about the library service available to them.

Information Seeking Behavior of Teachers of Shri Muktanand College Library, Gangapur

The Study looked at the problems and difficulties faced by teachers while seeking information. Analysis on the basis of study it is found that teachers have been shown more affection to formal and informal collection in the Library. As well as the information seeking from electronic resources with internet has given more preference. .

INFORMATION SEEKING BEHAVIOR AND LIBRARY USE PATTERN OF STUDENTS AT GOVT DEGREE COLLEGE BARAMULLA: A SURVEY

This article focuses on how information seeking behavior and library use by students at Govt College Baramulla and for this data was gathered by the questionnaire method and randomly selected the students. The overall purpose of the study was to determine what their information requirements and also determine their awareness of library services available to them. Data were gathered from 682 students out of 700 through open and closed questionnaire. Findings recommends that guidance in the use of library resources and services is necessary and web searching and retrieval skills be organized at regular intervals to help students meet some of their information requirements.
