Characterization of Municipal solid waste for energy recovery . A case study of Arusha , Tanzania (original) (raw)
The characterization of municipal solid waste is important in designing waste management, and waste to energy systems. This work characterizes the municipal solid waste of Arusha city; the results show that the HHV of municipal solid waste is about 12.42 MJ/kg. Thermo-degradation analysis shows that the municipal solid waste has activation energy ranges between 60 and 70 KJ/mole and preexponential factor ranges between 1.07 x 10 3 to 9.29 x 10 5 (S -1 ). Keywords— characterization, municipal solid waste, energy, incineration
