INVESTIGATING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF VISUAL MATERIALS FOR TEACHING VOCABULARY AT PRIMARY LEVEL
This article is designed to make a review of teaching methodology at primary level. The main purpose of this article is to indicate effectiveness of visual materials for teaching vocabulary at Primary level and to find out the problems faced by the teachers. A survey was conducted and analyzed with the help of qualitative research. 200 primary level teachers were chosen from District Bahawalpur. A questionnaire was provided to take teachers' views regarding the use of visual materials i.e. (pictures and charts) that provides the teachers a full opportunity to rely on the application of direct method of teaching. This article is a gate way for English Teachers in general and primary teachers in particular to achieve their mainly focused goals and suggestions for the solution of problems faced by them and the taught. Researchers' conclusion with suggestions and recommendations was also summed up at the end of the study.
Young Learners is. The use of visual aids such as pictures, posters, postcards, word calendars, realia, charts, graphic organizers, picture books, television, videos from iTunes, and computers can help Young Learners easily understand and realize the main points that they have learned in the classroom. The targets of this research are the Young Learners in Primary School in Korca, Albania at Grade 3 and Grade 6 and they are seen how they response in vocabulary classes with visual materials. These data are compared to the responses in classes when the teachers do not use visual materials. Some other questions that this research will answer are: 1. If teachers use visual materials, how do they use them to teach new vocabulary? 2. What are the main sources for visual materials? 3. What are pupils' attitudes towards using visual materials in learning vocabulary? 4. What are the teachers' attitudes towards using visual materials in teaching new vocabulary? For each visual aid, Young learners have different responses and expressions even because of their different educational and cultural background. Using visual aids can help learners understand the deep meaning of a topic and realize similarities and differences between each topic.

The Application of Visual Vocabulary for ESL Students’ Vocabulary Learning

Vocabulary is often neglected despite being one of the most crucial aspects of language acquisition. Due to the lack of emphasis on vocabulary learning, ESL students have issues in learning the English language effectively, which resulted in low-level language proficiency. Hence, this paper attempts to address this problem by introducing Visual Vocabulary to learn the target words. The main research question: How effective is the use of the Visual Vocabulary to learn vocabulary for Form Two learners? To investigate the effectiveness of the use of the Visual Vocabulary, 60 students of Form Two from sub-urban schools in Ipoh and Teluk Intan, Perak, were selected. These students were instructed to learn a total of 45 target words and Visual Vocabulary was applied to assist them to learn and simultaneously understand the meaning of the target words. Vocabulary instruction in elementary students differs from other level of education. It aims to empower them understand English vocabulary related to their surroundings.This study focuses on the implication of vocabulary instruction in elementary students through pictures. The use of pictures initiate and activate students curiosity on topic. This study focuses on the use of pictures in learning vocabulary to elementary students. The data collection technique was in the form of observation and field note in one of state Elementary School (SDN) in Surabaya. The study found that picture game is useful to empower students in learning English vocabulary. In addition, students are able not only to write the words correctly, but also to construct simple sentence. The Effect of Visually Supported Vocabulary Instruction on
This study investigated the vocabulary learning gains of beginner EFL learners in the Iran Language Institute (Urmia branch) using the application of visual aids and the traditional technique of definition. The proposed hypothesis predicted no significant difference between the two methods. The participants (N=44, within the age range of 10-16 and all males) were chosen using an intact group design sampling procedure. Instruments included Remedial Tests of the institute, serving both as a pre-test and a post-test with vocabulary as the main focus. The study lasted for three months, during which the experimental group was taught using visual aids and the control group, using traditional definition. The analysis of data using independent t-test indicated the experimental group outperformed significantly better than the control group in the post-test. The results offer a wealth of opportunity for teachers to experience the visual-supported approach to teaching vocabulary. Resumen Este estudio investigó las mejorías en aprendizaje de principiantes en cursos de inglés para extranjeros en el Instituto de Idiomas de Iran (Urmia) utilizando ayudas visuales y la técnica tradicional de usar definiciones. La hipótesis predijo ninguna diferencia significativa entre los dos métodos. Los participantes (N=44, dentro del rango de edad de 10-16 años y hombres todos) se escogieron mediante un procedimiento de diseño de grupos por muestreo. Los instrumentos incluyeron exámenes de regularización del Instituto que sirvieron como una prueba preliminar y posterior con el vocabulario como punto principal. El estudio tuvo una duración de tres meses, durante los cuales se enseñó al grupo experimental por medio de ayudas visuales y el grupo de control utilizando definiciones tradicionales. El análisis de los datos, hecho usando una prueba independiente de prueba-t, indicó que el grupo experimental superó significativamente al grupo de control en el prueba posterior. Los resultados ofrecen una amplia oportunidad para que los maestros experimenten el método de la enseñanza de vocabulario por medio del usos de ayudas visuales.
Improving Students’ Vocabulary Comprehension in Learning English Through Pictures

The objective in the research are to find out whether teaching vocabulary through pictures can improve the students’ vocabulary comprehension, and are the students’ interest in learning vocabulary through pictures at SMP Negeri 3 Merauke and the subject in this research was eight grade students B and C in SMP Negeri 3 Merauke. The research method using divided into quasi-experimental research. This sample of the research consisted of 40 students divided into two groups namely: 20 students to experimental group and 20 students to control group and conclude the data using two instruments; the vocabulary test for the students’ vocabulary achievement was analyzed used SPSS and the questionnaire was used to see students' interest in English learning vocabulary. To the result indicated that the through pictures media improves the vocabulary of the eight grade students in SMP Negeri 3 Merauke.
