This study aims to identify the relationship between leadership and innovation in service organizations. The methodological procedure used was a systematic literature review, based on publications available in four international digital databases. Of the 491 articles found, 19 empirical articles were selected for analysis. The results obtained allowed to identify a positive relationship between leadership and innovation in service organizations. The studies were grouped into two categories of analysis: leadership behavior and leadership styles. It was found that leadership behaviors, which explicitly foster innovation, must be built on high-quality individualized relationships between leaders and subordinates. The main behaviors identified are: fostering a change-oriented organizational culture; manage knowledge; offering encouragement, support, feedback, autonomy and resources so that the team members can carry out activities related to innovation, as well as recognizing them and rewarding them for their efforts; be a facilitator of internal and external relationships to the organization; recognize the importance of innovation, among others. Regarding the leadership style, the style that provides a healthy environment for the motivation and creativity of the team members will be the most suitable for innovation.
