Abstract
In the young athlete, forced dorsiflexion causes most wrist injuries. Sudden dorsiflexion from a fall onto theoutstretched hand results in fractures, ligament tears, and joint disruptions. Repetitive dorsiflexion, which occurs in activities such as weightlifting or gymnastics, leads to overuse injuries including physeal stress fractures, bone stress fractures, triangular fibrocartilage complex tears, impingement syndromes, progressive laxity and arthritic degeneration.
