Pathophysiology and Diagnostic Approach of COVID-19-AN Overview
2020
Coronavirus has become one of the major concern worldwide after its sudden outbreak in Wuhan (China); which mainly targets human respiratory system. It’s been identified as zoonotic pathogen based on its similarities with SARS, hence termed severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2); which further, provisionally named as 2019-nCoV or Novel coronavirus. Since, its emergence at the end of 2019, it promptly spreading across China, then other countries causing a world-wide outbreak and became the major concern for public health. In the past two decades, the emergence of Novel coronavirus (COVID-19) been marked as 3rd pathogenic zoonotic-virus in human population after SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV. With an unusual and sudden outbreak in Wuhan (China), Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is a pandemic disease as affirmed by World Health Organization (WHO) on 11 March, 2020. In this review, we will discuss and compare the structural features of SARS-CoV, MERS-CoV and COVID-19 pathoge...

This paper aims to comprehensively consolidate the available information about COVID-19 and present all the possible information about this disease in form of a single paper to readers. Unparalleled research and exhaustive studies of everything about the disease and its causative virus, i.e., severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), are underway since its emergence. The genome sequence of the virus was made available within a record short time by China, making possible immediate study of its structure and characteristics. The routes of transmission of the disease, signs and symptoms, incubation period, pathogenesis, and pathophysiology have been extensively studied and presented in an organized way in this review paper....
Epidemiology and Pathogenesis of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)
Novel Research in Microbiology Journal, 2020
An acute respiratory syndrome (ARDS) episode was first identified in Wuhan, China, and later officially designated as COVID-19 by the WHO. It is caused by SARS-CoV-2 that is likely associated with zoonotic transmission. Based on the live data from live reference website Worldometer which provides counters and realtime statistics for diverse topics data, COVID-19 has influenced 186 nations. China reported 25% of cases, while 75% of the remaining cases were reported in other nations. The clinical and genetic characteristics of SARS-CoV-2 support the similar pathogenesis pattern between SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV. The elevated level of cytokine release during the infection caused the failure of multiple organs leading to the patient death. Treatment of patients depends on the clinical course and symptoms associated with the COVID-19. Several prevention and control measures including; active surveillance, use of masks, and hand sanitizers are recommended to stop the spread of this virus. Besides, COVID-19 was sampled using a throat swab to detect the viral nucleic acid using Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR), for early detection and treatments evaluation. In this review, we comprehensively summarized the COVID-19 epidemiology, pathogenesis and diagnosis, using suitable literatures obtained from reliable sources.

The 2019 coronavirus pandemic disease has spread globally. SARS-CoV-2 species in the first and second time waves and new species of Omicron show symptoms in the third wave of COVID-19 worldwide. The first patients were found in Wuhan, China. Due to COVID-19, the main highly infected countries are the U.S. China, European countries, and also India. The SARS-CoV-2 species are betacoronavirus infections that spread from person to person and another object. The COVID-19 SARS species (RNA virus) is majorly infected in the lungs. Some vaccines and some drugs are provided worldwide, but these vaccines are not proper treatment for COVID-19. These vaccines boost immunity and provide relief from the symptoms of COVID-19, but they are not a proper treatment. Antimalarial drugs, antiviral drugs, monoclonal antibodies, and antibiotics are used in the current treatment to stop mechanisms like fusion entry and replication. Identification of COVID-19 through symptoms and properly identified by RT-PCR Prevention and treatment of COVID-19 disease is a promising new research area for pharma companies to develop novel therapeutic agents' inhibition for COVID-19 pathological targets.

In December 2019, a small number of cases of pneumonia of unknown origin were recognized in the city of Wuhan, China. Soon, the disease, whose etiological factor was recognized as a coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, had spread across the world. The resulting CoV-associated diseases were classified by the WHO as COVID-19, and a pandemic was declared in March 2020. By 25 November 2021, there have been nearly 256.8 million of confirmed cases of COVID-19 around the world, including 5.17 million deaths. This review focuses on basal characteristics of the SARS-CoV-2 virus - its structure, replication cycle, variants and course of infection. It also briefly characterizes the currently recommended drugs and vaccines. Coronaviruses (CoVs) are a group of RNA viruses with a characteristic solar corona image observable on electron micrographs. SARS-CoV-2 possesses high affinity to human angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) which serves as a cellular entry receptor. Its replication in human cells is acc...

The 2019-nCoV is officially called SARS-CoV-2 and the disease is named COVID-19. The Novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) caused pneumonia in Wuhan, China in December 2019 is a highly contagious disease. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared it as a global public health emergency. This is the third serious Coronavirus outbreak in less than 20 years, following SARS in 2002–2003 and MERS in 2012. Currently, the research on novel coronavirus is still in the primary stage. It is currently believed that this deadly Coronavirus strain originated from wild animals at the Huanan market in Wuhan by Bats, snakes and pangolins have been cited as potential carriers. On the basis of current published evidence, we systematically summarize the epidemiology, clinical characteristics, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of COVID-19. This review in the hope of helping the public effectively recognize and deal with the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) and providing a reference for future studies. K...

A novel coronavirus member was reported in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China, at the end of the year 2019. Initially, the infection spread locally, affecting the Wuhan people, and then expanded rapidly throughout the world. On 11 March 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) proclaimed it a global pandemic. The virus is a new strain most closely related to a bat coronavirus (RaTG13) which was not previously discovered in humans and is now formally known as the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is the disease syndrome that the SARS-CoV-2 virus triggers. It is suggested that SARS-CoV-2 can be transmitted through aerosols, direct/indirect contact, and also during medical procedures and specimen handling. The infection is characterized by isolated flu-like symptoms, but there may be specific signs of fever, fatigue, cough, and shortness of breath, as well as the loss of smell and breathing difficulty. Within this report, we tried to review the most current scientific literature published by January 2021 on various aspects of the outbreak, including virus structure, pathogenesis, clinical presentation, epidemiology, diagnostic approaches, potential therapeutics and vaccines, and prospects. We hope this article makes a beneficial impact on public education to better deal with the SARS-CoV-2 crisis and push a step forward in the near term towards its prevention and control.
