Abstract

In this summary analysis of It Happened one Night, we focus on the space-time framework in which a man and a woman who do not know each other are going to share an unexpected intimacy, in crescendo, during a journey. The authority figures that keep a watch on them (her father, his boss) will collaborate from the background in order for that fortuitous encounter to end up in an assumed happy wedding off-screen, which is possible thanks to the interruption of the wedding-flight planned at first. In this story we can clearly appreciate how in the Hollywood cinema of the 30's, the film-makers mastered eroticism and humor as the main ingredients for their films, even in the scene of the Great Depression, to which Frank Capra concretely, always gave prominence.
