The HBIM of the Basilica di Collemaggio in L'Aquila is part of the restoration project of the building seriously damaged by the earthquake in 2009. The project "Ripartire da Collemaggio", funded by ENIservizi, involves an interdisciplinary group called to work together toward a common goal: the need of security of the structures and the need of conservation of the architectonic value of the Basilica. Starting from the photogrammetric and laser scanning survey, interpretation and modelling were needed to create a detailed HBIM to manage the phases of analysis, simulation of structural behavior, economic evaluation of the project, and final restoration. This paper described the generation of the HBIM and its use in the on-going restoration project with a particular attention to the procedures used to preserve the complexity given by photogrammetric and laser scanning data.
The paper is aimed at presenting some results regarding the causes of damage of a masonry church (Chiesa del Rosario) located in Finale Emilia, a town stricken by the May 2012 Emilia Romagna seismic event. The church exhibits a diffused state of damage on the façade (rocking along a horizontal hinge), lateral nave walls (shear), transect (shear and outof- plane bending) and bell tower (detachment at the connection of the tower to the church and subsequent rotation along a vertical axis). The approach adopted is multidisciplinary and it is conducted within a research project that involves the Technical Universities of Milan, the Technical University of Bari and the Italian Cultural and Architectural Heritage Ministry (MiBAC). The survey analyses conducted comprise a detailed geometric recover of the volumes and materials used, basing on post-seismic photogrammetric studies, historical research on existing documentation and repeated in situ investigation. Preliminary structural analyses are conducted in agreement with the Italian Code. In particular, full pushover analyses on a detailed FE discretization are performed, providing an estimate of failure seismic acceleration and automatically identifying the most critical parts of the church as well as the failure mechanism active, to compare with the 28 possible local collapse mechanisms provided by the Italian Guidelines on the built heritage.

This report presents an overview of the damage that was observed in fourteen churches that were hit by the May 2012Emilia-Romagna earthquake sequence. The data was collected over the course of a two-day reconnaissance mission thattook place on the 9th and 10th of July 2012, and that involved researchers from the Civil engineering Department of theFaculty of Engineering of the University of Porto and of the University of Aveiro, both institutions from Portugal.It is noted that the current report only focusses the post-seismic damage assessment of churches and does not address thecultural and artistic losses associated to movable or immovable heritage. Furthermore, it is also referred that since thereconnaissance mission took place after the major earthquakes of the 20th and the 29th of May, the source of the reporteddamages is not assigned to a particular event and must be seen as the cumulative effect of several ground motions

The reconstruction process of residential buildings damaged by L'Aquila 2009 earthquake initially involved buildings outside historical centres and then, starting from August 2012, residential buildings in historical centres. The reconstruction model related to buildings in historical centres was developed by two special offices, involved in the reconstruction process of L'Aquila municipality and other municipalities, respectively. Both special offices introduced new procedures to manage the reconstruction based on a parametric model to define the maximum public grant to repair and strengthen the damaged buildings in historical centres. The new model was necessary to deal with the reconstruction of historical centres mainly characterized by old masonry building aggregates with a cultural and architectural heritage value.
