Meeting of curators of ancient greek coinage 21 May 2012 in Berlin (2012)
2012
On 20 May 2007, the Interactive Catalogue of the Numismatic Collection of the National Museums in Berlin www.smb.museum/ikmk unveiled ikmk at a major symposium. The fifth anniversary of this comprehensive online catalog of now more than 17,500 objects, was the occasion for a meeting of museum curators, who are each responsible for the care of ancient Greek coins. Topics discussed included digital asset publication and opportunities for collaboration. Such issues have the subject of several meetings in the past, however, however recent changes in appointments at three of the represented institutes have brought new faces to the discussions. For the first time the new curators of the three great coin collections in London, Paris and Vienna were present: Amelia Dowler, Frédérique Duyrat and Klaus Vondrovec. The morning was devoted to presentations on the state of digitization, the afternoon was devoted to discussion arising out of the presentations.
