An Equivalence Relation on Wavelets in Higher Dimensions
Bulletin of the London Mathematical Society, 2004
We introduce an equivalence relation on the set of single wavelets of L 2 (R n) associated with an arbitrary dilation matrix. The corresponding equivalence classes are characterized in terms of the support of the Fourier transform of wavelets and it is shown that each of these classes is non-empty. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification. 42C40.

The wavelet subspaces of the space of square integrable functions on the affine group with respect to the left invariant Haar measure dν are studied using the techniques from [9] with respect to wavelets whose Fourier transforms are related to Laguerre polynomials. The orthogonal projections onto each of these wavelet subspaces are described and explicit forms of reproducing kernels are established. Isomorphisms between wavelet subspaces are given.
Dimension Functions of Orthonormal Wavelets
Journal of Fourier Analysis and Applications, 2007
The article is devoted to dimension functions of orthonormal wavelets on the real line with dyadic dilations. We describe properties of dimension functions and prove several characterization theorems. In addition, we provide a method of construction of dimension functions. Various new examples of dimension functions and orthonormal wavelets are included.
Construction of Wavelets and Applications
A sequence of increasing translation invariant subspaces can be defined by the Haar-system (or generally by wavelets). The orthogonal projection to the subspaces generates a decomposition (multiresolution) of a signal. Regarding the rate of convergence and the number of operations, this kind of decomposition is much more favorable then the conventional Fourier expansion.
Wavelet frames and admissibility in higher dimensions
Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1996
This paper is concerned with the relations between discrete and continuous wavelet transforms on k-dimensional Euclidean space. We start with the construction of continuous wavelet transforms with the help of square-integrable representations of certain semidirect products, thereby generalizing results of Bernier and Taylor. We then turn to frames of L 2 (R k ) and to the question, when the functions occurring in a given frame are admissible for a given continuous wavelet transform. For certain frames we give a characterization which generalizes a result of Daubechies to higher dimensions.
On the structure of the space of wavelet transforms
Comptes Rendus Mathematique, 2008
Let G be the "ax + b"-group with the left invariant Haar measure dν and ψ be a fixed real-valued admissible wavelet on L2(R). The complete decomposition of L2(G, dν) onto the space of wavelet transforms W ψ (L2(R)) is obtained after identifying the group G with the upper half-plane Π in C. To cite this article: O. The mathematical theory of wavelets
… analysis—a celebration (Il Ciocco, 2000), 2001
We present an overview of some aspects of the mathematical theory of wavelets. These notes are addressed to an audience of mathematicians familiar with only the most basic elements of Fourier Analysis. The material discussed is quite broad and covers several topics involving wavelets. Though most of the larger and more involved proofs are not included, complete references to them are provided. We do, however, present complete proofs for results that are new (in particular, this applies to a recently obtained characterization of "all" wavelets in section 4).
