Abstract

Crow and Dabars describe a new model for American universities that will take institutions beyond rankings based on selectivity to values based on inclusiveness. The authors also argue that universities can and should play a larger role in local community and economic development by partnering with industry and government. The case is compelling and will be a useful guide for university administrators in the years ahead.
