Importance of Spirituality for Religion and Religious Experience Students: A General Perspective
International Journal for Research Trends in Social Science & Humanities, 2024
When we talk about spirituality, a conventional way of thinking is the connecstion to religion, which is why this paper will give an insight into the common definition of spirituality from various perspectives until its meaning is based on the conviction of Catholic Faith and the teachings of Jesus in the Gospel. Discussions on Spiritual Development have been overlooked in secular educational settings even though spirituality plays a pivotal role in shaping students' personal, emotional, and social well-being. This research will analyze the effects of Spiritual development and its contribution to the holistic development of students by developing a sense of connection to the divine and others. They are searching for meaning in life that leads them to personal and communal prayer and worship as well as the enforcement of their values to act accordingly. This research also explores how education, in general, plays a crucial role in developing one's spirituality, especially in public school settings that have no institutionalized religion, such as theology classes, compared with private Catholic schools.

Indian Journal of Health and Wellbeing, 2012
More and more youths becoming integral part of industrial processes and machines with sole aim to produce and sell products in bulks to boost the profits of their companies. The situation is, therefore, turning them into narrow minded population which cannot find mental peace and well being due to lack of basic knowledge of spirituality. There needs to be a greater recognition of absence of spirituality course work in the educational curriculum as an academic-problem. To cope with the dilemma, it is necessary that every student of Higher Education must have at least preliminary knowledge about spirituality, so that they may truly become global citizens who might accept the criticism of their belief-systems as a praiseworthy thing like they accept the writings of the sacred scriptures of their own religions. Throughout human history, there have been people of faith, and people who do not believe in any Super Being. Problems occur when one side misunderstands the other. This article a...

Religion and Spirituality: An Imperceptible Quandary
2020
The term Religion and Spirituality are to be sure proportional of neither one another, however neither they are unfavourably inverse nor the equivalent. Religion and Spirituality are two untethered facts of uncanny reality. Religion is set of creeds, confidence, and ceremonies laid or established on supernaturally mediating belief systems (at any rate that is what is assumed by adherents) which gather devotees into a strict network maybe continuing a moral and good exchange with Spirituality. The term Spirituality exclusively bears no weight; in any case, it flourishes deliberately on pieces and pulsates of religion on a mundane scale. Methodologically this paper depends on nonempirical investigation, different writing have been skimmed and checked on. Accordingly an endeavour by the methods for this paper has been made to figure an investigation in the terms of Religion and Spirituality. In addition this article will assist with breaking down the sociological comprehension and will...
“Spirituality in public schools is less controversial when spirituality is understood as a developmental line innate to human beings” (Ingersoll and Bauer, 2004). Spirituality has been recognized, more in recent years, separate from religion and more as an innate component to human existence. Viewing spirituality as a component of human development cognitively, emotionally and sexually has made it less confrontational and more accepted within the public school systems. The first amendment of the United States Constitution strictly prohibits “...the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble…” (The United States Constitution, 1791). However, spirituality does not and should not fall under the amendment as it is just one component of several which make up human total wellness. Spirituality has many dimensions and aligns with our mental and physical being. The feelings of hope, compassion, meaning, purpose of life and honesty are associated with spiritual wellness. These feelings are innate, however, through the practice of a religion, to some, can seem more purposeful because religion acts as an anchor for what we believe, how we act and our authenticity. For example, although not completely confirmed, it is believed mediation originated in India and was adapted by the Buddhist religion. However, Buddhism is a lifestyle more so than a religion and is meant to function as a component of lifestyle. Therefore, it can be practiced by any religion and has been adopted by many cultures sinces its origin. I had the honor of hearing the Dalai Lama speak in person. The first thing he said was, “Buddhism is not a religion.” Meditation channels a state of mind which provides balance, presence and compassion. The Ingersoll and Bauer’s article expressed similar views. They associated spirituality with a state of being and how we respond, communicate and perceive the truth. When aligned with education, educational professions should be trained to recognize and respond to students on a more spiritual level so they can better understand and serve the student population.
Spiritual, but not religious?: On the nature of spirituality and its relation to religion
Recent years have seen a rise in those who describe themselves as " spiritual, but not religious ". At a popular level, there has been a lot of debate about this label and what it represents. But philosophers have in general paid little attention to the conceptual issues it raises. What is spirituality, exactly, and how does it relate to religion? Could there be a non-religious spirituality? In this paper, I try to give an outline account of the nature of spirituality and of religion, and then close with some thoughts on the prospects for a non-religious spirituality.
THE STUDY OF SPIRITUALITY: THOUGHTS FROM THE CHRISTIAN EAST
This paper is offered as an example of a human science approach to the study of spirituality as a universal human experience. From the author’s perspective, spirituality is not only a universal element of human experience, but (because I equate spirituality with human freedom), spirituality is THE foundationally quality of the human. The thesis to be tested is this: Through a careful consideration of themes central to a specific spiritual tradition (in this case, the relationship of communion and asceticism in the Eastern Christian liturgical spirituality), we can come to an appreciative critical understanding not only of that tradition, but also of themes foundational to all human spiritualities.
