Africa is today, faced with the scourge of ceaseless violence and terrorism of unimaginable proportions. The description of the causes, nature and dimensions of terror has been subjected to varying degree of opinions with tremendous impacts on the African continent. This paper is concerned with the perceptions of terrorism in Africa with direct focus on why the continent is the hotbed of conflict, violence and terror. It categorised terrorism in the continent into two- terrorism in Africa, depicting a form of terrorism initiated from outside and against the continent, and African terrorism described as internally planted terrorism. The history of colonialism, neo-colonialism and dependency relations between Africa and the developed nations through globalisation are synonymous with the former.
