Leadership is an international phenomenon which is also very popular domain among the behavioral science. Leadership emergence depends on ability to recognize what followers want in different situations and the function of the leader to maintain group structure and goal direction for reconciling conflicting demands arising outside the group. Through extensive literature survey of different researcher it is found that Instead of focusing on their own goals leaders must focus in building relationships with followers to benefit their collective goals. Leaders should focus on subordinates capability and behavior for performance. Leadership is an important aspect in any organization and it is evident in any institution, business enterprise, company or organization. There are lots of organizations which are made by visionary leaders, who are ready to take risks and take people along with them to create a successful organization. This exploratory study, tries to find the link between the leadership and its impact on the organizational performance. This study was conducted based on the secondary data. The past research in the area has been analyzed to find the link between the leadership and organizational performance. From the analysis it was found that, there are factors which influence the organizational performance such as leadership, culture, employee engagement. The one factor which binds the people to the organization is the leadership and the role leader plays in molding the culture and trust of the employees to bring about the change and improved performance

Many organizations are redefining their activity, with the role of the leader growing. Currently, the role of leaders is changing, evolving from control and hierarchy, towards the search for innovative solutions. These solutions require the active participation of employees and a total reconsideration of the role of leaders. These aspects have been approached in this paper in detail. In the first part of the paper, the strong connection between leadership and organizational culture was analyzed. The paper continues by presenting elements of differentiation between direct and indirect leadership. Finally, based on the particular importance of leadership in the success of organizations, I have presented the current trends in leadership in the world.

Leadership is a process by which one person tries to influence others in the performance of a common task. Through leadership subordinates are imaginatively directed, guided and influenced in choosing and attaining goals. Personal interviews together with supplement questionnaires were administered on two Managers of Carson Products Ltdwho were randomly selected to collect data for the purpose. Data collected were manually handled, analyzed and discussed. Much research has been directed to the leadership phenomenon. Also three broad categories of leadership style exist: autocratic (theory X) democratic (theory Y), and free-rein styles. Managers will use these styles in their effort to emerge as a leader. A manager who is appointed to a position of organizational authority is not generally perceived as a leader at the out set. It is hoped, however, that this person will emerge as a leader of the subordinates, thus becoming a much more effective manager as well. The study revealed that leaders need to have knowledge, capacity, patience and initiative to motivate, communicate, manage conflicts etc, Every organization should therefore set-up human resource department to recruit, develop, motivate and advance people for leadership position.

This research paper looks into how leadership skills have brought prosperity to many countries, including India over the years. In India, leadership skills in leading the country is popular, and has been honed by generations of Indians living in the country from ancient to modern days. In the earlier stage, leadership research focused in bringing out 'authority' in leaders, and look towards those who possess assertive voice and clear vision to lead the people. Now, the core value of organizations and organizational performance begins with the leaders and their different leadership styles discussed above. By analysing many leadership styles associated with the Indian leaders such as the great man behavioural, situational, contingency, transformational, transactional, and complexity leadership styles, the paper looks into how such leadership qualities have become a necessity in bringing development and performance changes in modern organizational work operations. The analysis brought out that these leadership styles remains as the main determinant of organizational success, since they offer good context in increasing commitment from workers towards organizational performance.

The concept and definition of leadership style may differ from one person, or situation, to the other. The aim of the article is to present the insights of advanced organization management and to examine how settled ideas are reflected in the attitude of organizations' top management in Lithuania. The results of meta-analysis revealed that modern organizations should be managed with a new attitude to manager's work. A modern manager must be a leader who is able to enable employees and collaborate in a team. Scholars state that these strivings require the leader to possess managerial competences based on a high emotional and social intellect of a person. Leaders of 48 empirically examined organizations in Lithuania also emphasized the importance of leaders' specific managerial competences. The research participants noted that relations with other people are becoming much more important for the contemporary leaders than before. The research enabled to develop a model of modern leader's characteristics. The model states that only leader having specific values, attitudes, competences, abilities and professional characteristics is able to overcome managerial challenges in nowadays organizations.
