Social-communicative manifestations of children with autism spectrum disorders in the motor activity

Perspectives of Science & Education, 2022

Introduction. The relevance of the study is due to the need to find optimal opportunities and conditions for overcoming socialization deficits in children with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs). The purpose of the study is to identify the level of social-communicative manifestations in the motor activity of 5-6-year-old children with ASDs in terms of interaction with peers. Materials and methods. Children aged 5-6 from combined (n=20) and compensatory groups (n=16) of Belgorod preschool institutions took part in the pilot study. A theoretical analysis of scientific literature on the research problem was used, as well as the following empirical methods – observation of independent motor activity, diagnostic game situation "Living figures", Mann-Whitney U test. Results. The analysis of the results of monitoring children with autism spectrum disorders in the independent motor activity showed that 16 (100%) examined children are characterized by stereotypical behavior, refusal to communicate, attacks of unmotivated aggression, a feeling of fear. It has been proved that the inclusion of children with ASDs in joint motor activities with normally developed children, using the example of a game situation "Living figures", can enrich their social experience, increase the time of interaction with peers, determine its semantic field. According to the Mann-Whitney U test, a statistically significant difference (p<0.05) was found in the degree of success in solving interaction problems when comparing the results of mixed (combined) and correctional (children with ASDs) groups on two experimental methods. Conclusion. New facts of a positive impact of the inclusive space on social-communicative manifestations of children aged 5-6 with ASDs in the motor activity were revealed. The results of the study point to the need to create and implement special gaming and imitation techniques, rites, ball games to ensure psycho-emotional comfort in inclusive groups, reduce the manifestations of aggressiveness and anxiety in children with autism spectrum disorders in compensatory groups. These techniques are proposed in the adaptive gaming program and technology for its implementation "Play as you please".

Formation of Dialogic Interactions in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders

PSYCHOLINGUISTICS, 2020

Introduction. In the course of the presented research, the aim was to identify a group of factors that determine the so-called “inability to dialogue” in children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and to analyze possible ways of forming dialogic interactions in them. Methods. The methods of analysis, systematization, generalization and theoretical triangulation of scientific data have been applied. Results. As a result of the analysis, problems caused by socio-pragmatic situations were attributed to: difficulties in switching the communicative role of “the speaker” to “the listener”; the lack of positive feedback; alienation from the environment; weakness of communication initiation; monologic manipulability, in which the need to produce a statement is not objectified in the motive and is not realized in the purpose of the statement. Problems associated with psycholinguistic pragmatics include: disturbance of rhythmic-temporal synchronized communication; ignoring partner’s speech behav...

The article contains the analysis of studies describing each level of language as well as existing approaches to its assessment, and reviews studies on language impairments in children with autism spectrum disorders. Additionally, the article contains a detailed analysis of existing foreign and Russian standardized methods for assessing speech development, showing which level of language organization (among each of the mentioned above methods) allows us to assess. It also describes the assessment procedures and evaluation. The review systematizes the available data on the approaches to atypical speech development in children with autism spectrum disorders.

Receptive Language in Primary-School-Aged Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder

Клиническая и специальная психология, 2021

The objective of the present study is to investigate the relationship between the receptive language, and the index of non-verbal intelligence and the level of severity of autistic disorders in primary-school-aged children with Autism spectrum disorder. One of the main areas influenced by autistic disorders is communication. Therefore, the study of the language abilities of such children and factors that affect them provides a better approach to the therapy and education. The sample included 50 children aged 7–11 years diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders. Children were tested using the KORABLIK method (basic linguistic skills), the Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children (KABC-II) or the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children ― Third Edition (WISC-III) (non-verbal intelligence), the Autism Diagnosis Observation Schedule ― Second Edition (ADOS-II) (autistic traits). The results support the hypothesis of the relationship between receptive language skills, the index of non-verba...

The study of neuro-cognitive development and specifics of child-parent cooperation in case of genetic risk of autism and ADHD in the family

Pedagogical Education in Russia, 2017

Health limitations and special educational needs are one of the most important issues in the modern society. The number of children with health limitation is growing year by year, as well as the number of children with chronic illnesses and disabilities. It is obvious that proper psychological and pedagogical assistance to children with neuro-cognitive developmental risk may reduce the negative consequences and rehabilitate the child. Child-parent cooperation is a risk reducing factor or a means to prevent complications of some disorders that may in future influence formation of sensor, motor and cognitive functions negatively. Children with a genetic risk of autism or ADHD took part in this research, as well as typically developing children. Distinctive characteristics of deficits of articulation-phonological and lexical-semantic abilities of children with developmental language disorder

Bastina

Language disorder is defined as a disorder of the acquisition, comprehension or expression of spoken and/or written language that may be expressed in one or more aspects of the language system including phonology, semantics, morphology, syntax and pragmatics. Difficulties at the level of morphology and syntax are by far the most recognizable and most researched linguistic aspects, while research on other aspects of language has been left aside. The aim of this study was to determine the distinctive features of the deficit of articulation-phonological and lexical-semantic abilities in children with developmental language disorder (DLD) at a younger school age. Our research included 79 respondents, 39 of them with a diagnosis of DLD and 40 children with typical language development. The average age of the respondents in the group of children with DLD was 6.87 years, while the age of the respondents in the control group was 6.93.
