Web-based Learning Management System Considerations for Higher Education
Coinciding with the development and growth of the Internet, there has been a dramatic increase in the application of the Learning Management Systems (LMS) in higher education. University and college campuses should consider evaluating each LMS to ensure that the system meets the requirements and demands of the institution. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to present a model which incorporates the concepts and findings from research on LMS application in higher education. The alternative model was modified based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). In addition, five categories of LMS features for higher education are discussed including: (1) transmitting course content; (2) evaluating students; (3) evaluating courses and instructors; (4) creating class discussions; and (5) creating computer-based instruction. This study reviews and discusses prior research and provides several recommendations including a model of development and design of an LMS for future implementation in higher educational environments.
Integrating Learning Management Systems into Higher Education: Benefits, Barriers, and Requirements

Technology plays an effective and constructive role in the process of teaching and learning in higher education. It can make this process more enjoyable, productive, and interactive through its various tools. It has led to creating a new learning mode, namely e-learning which has become one of the most effective modes of teaching and learning in higher education. Learning management systems (LMSs) are e-learning tools which have become very important for education today. Nowadays, many educational institutions use such tools to manage and foster online teaching and learning environments in higher education. Based on reviewing the literature, the current research paper refers to the characteristics, features, and some common products of LMSs. It also sheds light on the benefits of integrating these powerful technology tools into the process of teaching and learning in higher education. Moreover, it points out the barriers to integrating LMSs into the process of teaching and learning in higher education and how it may be possible to overcome these barriers in order to make use of such powerful technology tools in higher education.

Information Technology (IT) can be an important component for innovation as enables e-learning and it can provide conditions for an organization to be able to work with new businesses and improved processes. In this regard, Learning Management Systems (LMS) allow communication and interaction between teachers and students in virtual spaces. However, the literature indicates that there are gaps in research, especially concerning the use of IT for the management of e-learning. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the available literature about the application of LMS for the e-learning management, seeking to present possibilities for research in the field. An integrative literature review was performed considering the Web of Science, Scopus, Ebsco and Scielo databases, where 78 references were found, of which 25 were full papers. By eliminating duplication, 14 papers remained, which came to constitute the portfolio of the study. The analysis of the papers allowed to conclude that: 1) the most frequent research strategy was the quantitative; 2) survey was the most used research design; 3) the most frequent categories in the studied educational platforms belong to Instructional Resources and the less frequently ones belong to Interface and, 4) most of the studies are related to administrative function control; 5) LMS in e-learning management is still incipiently discussed in the literature. Over a number of years, the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has encouraged and supported moves to Learning Management System (LMS) replacing aspects of paper-based and face-to-face teaching and learning including, assignments, workshops and examination. The views of learners and academics were explored to consider the advantages of the system as well as potential challenges. Prospects and Challenges of Learning Management Systems in Higher Education

Many higher education institutions nowadays are equipped with Learning Management Systems (LMS) to provide rich online learning solutions and utilize its functions and capabilities to improve the learning practices. The current study aims to gain instructors' perspective of LMS, investigate the use of its functions, and identify the barriers that may influence LMS utilization at the Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST). This research aims to examine current practices, opinions, and challenges that help academicians and system developers contribute to better learning practices and academic achievement. The study used a quantitative method that included a sample of 58 faculty members. Findings obtained from the questionnaire indicated that instructors were generally comfortable and had positive perceptions about LMS Moodle. The results revealed that LMS's administrative functions, such as files and announcements, are widely used compared to the advanced interactive learning activities. Moreover, LMS's use on mobile devices is infrequent, and more emphasis must be placed on using LMS friendly user interfaces that can enable all tools and functions to use LMS.

—A Learning Management System (LMS) is one e-learning tool that has been widely used to improve students' learning experience and the construction of their understanding of certain topics. This concept paper discusses a number of potential Learning Management Systems (LMS) that can be utilised for teaching and learning processes in the context of Higher Education Institutions, for example Moodle, ATutor, Blackboard and SuccessFactors. The comparison is made based on a literature review of the characteristics of the selected LMS providers. Among the characteristics considered are flexibility, ease of use, accessibility and user friendliness. This paper also provides some conclusions on the selection of the platform to be used. The results of this study give readers information to make their own decisions when choosing an LMS platform based on the needs of their institution.
MODIFIED LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM: MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN E-LEARNING THIS NEW NORMAL

The Learning Management System (LMS) is a type of web-based software that is hosted on a server and is used to handle students' information, program enrollment, course content, and evaluation tools. The primary goal of this study was to ascertain the efficacy of learning management systems in affecting change in this new normal school context. The research study engaged 38 students from various courses who were enrolled in the Citi Global College's Weekend Education Program. A descriptive research design was adopted in this study. Descriptive research is one in which the range of one or more variables is described without respect for any causal or other assumption. The frequency (f) and percentage (%) relevant factors were used to determine the respondents' demographic profile in terms of age, sex, course, year level, available internet connection, and gadget use at home; whereas the weighted Mean (WM), ttest, and f-test variables were used to analyze the gathered data regarding the level of effectiveness on the quality characteristics of the learning management system and to determine if there were significant differences in respondents' assessments. The study's findings indicate that respondents were all working students; the majority of them use mobile data as their available internet subscription; and that there was no significant difference in the level of effectiveness of LMS's quality characteristics when respondents were grouped according to their demographic profile. The study recommended that instructors allow students sufficient time to process their output at the LMS because they were working students; prepare video tutorials to familiarize students with the LMS platform; use a good or faster internet connection of at least 4 Mbps and at least Android Marshmallow or iOS 8 on their mobile devices; and that the Learning Management System may be proposed for use by other neighboring schools.

The success of the e-learning paradigm observed in recent times has created a growing demand for e-learning systems in universities and other educational institutions, which has led to the development of a number of either commercial or open-source eLearning Management Systems (e-LMS). What are those eLMS systems, or how they function? The present discussion initially highlights certain distinctive features of e-learning management systems. Basically the idea of adaptive e-learning is being facilitated through the use, implementation and installation of various open source or commercial software. Such software for their operation requires specific platforms. Because of multiplicity of platforms and approaches for systems implementation, it becomes increasingly difficult to manage or compare them. Each new LMS presents its own learning model. How to compare different e-learning platforms, and on what basis to choose the most adequate one, is a task of ever increasing importance. Thus a comparative study has been made to enumerate the utility and effectiveness of e-learning software like Moodle, ATutor and ILIAS. However, with implementation of different e-LMS modules certain barriers have evolved.
