The Influence of Apple and Snakefruit Vinegar on Blood Glucose Levels of Male Wistar Rats Fed with High-Sugar Diet (original) (raw)

Does consuming berries reduce blood pressure in a hypertensive rat model?

Dietary flavonoids are thought to protect against cardiovascular diseases by acting as antioxidants and vasodilatants. The present study aimed to determine if dietary antioxidants from blackcurrants, boysenberries or blueberries reduce blood pressure in a hypertensive rat model. Forty Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats (SHR) male rats were fed'diets containing 10% freeze-dried blackcurrants, boysenberries or blueberries for 35 days. Ten Wistar Kyoto (WKY) rats were fed a control diet for 35 days. Liveweight, food intake and systolic blood pressure were recorded weekly for each rat. The WKY rats gained more weight than the SHR rats. There was no significant difference in food intake between dietary treatments. The systolic blood pressure for the WKY rats did not change over the course of the study. The SHR rats had increasing systolic blood pressure during the study. The SHR rats fed blackcurrants and blueberries had lower blood pressure measurements (p=0.095) than the rats fed the ...

Hypolipidemic effect of colocynth alkaloids in Wistar rat fed high-fat diet

Nutrition & Santé, 2015

Introduction Objectif.

2011

The increase of the rate of diabetes in the world and in Algeria remains important. We need for a change of the dietary habits and therapeutic to achieve the goals as regards stabilization of the glycemia. Telbina is part of beneficial food. This was brought back by the messenger of God Mohammed (peace be upon him). In this context the present study is registered. This study relates to the contribution of a food mode containing barley inspired of the receipt of Telbina to the fight against the diabetes. In this work, the principal component of Telbina to knowing the hulled barley was characterized. It is made up of sugar 71.64%, 8.75% of proteins. The lipids and ashes are estimated at 3.25% and 1.93% respectively. The barley is also characterized by a high dietary fiber rate of about 31 g/100g of the bran. The proportioning of total phenols revealed a content of 1.76 mg are equivalent catechin /100g. With end to test the effect of the Telbina diet on the hyperglycemia; nondiabetic wistar rats and wistar rats made diabetic by Streptozotocin (60 mg/kg) were used. The rats are subjected to the control diet and the diet containing Telbina during 4 weeks. The got results show that in the diabetic rats subjected to the diet containing Telbina, the hyperglycemia strongly decreases (at a rate of 80%) to find these normal values approximately 1 g/l at the end of 4 weeks, whereas it remains high in the control diabetic rats towards 5 g/l. The body weight severely decreased in the diabetic rat nourished with the control diet. This reduction is estimated at 45 g/month. One on the other hand recorded in the diabetic rats subjected to the diet containing Telbina a profit of the weight estimated at 18 g/month. The statistical analysis shows that the difference between the diet effect of the control and containing Telbina in the diabetic rats is highly significant (p≤ 0.01) since the 1 st week. The Telbina diet invilves the disapearance of some symptom of diabetes of which polydipsy. The urinary analyses revealed the absence of the ketonic bodies and proteins. Whereas, these symptoms persist in the diabetic rats subjected to the diet control. The Telbina could have an antihyperglycemic effect.

Les sucres dans des jus de fruit par HILIC-RID

Méthodes Chromatographiques, 2022

An HPLC-RID analytical method was shown to be able to separate and quantify the sugar compounds of fructose, glucose and sucrose without derivatization and in less than 30 min. The regression equations all revealed strong linearity (R2 = 0.9996–0.9999) in the test range. The LOD and LOQ calculated for the three analytes were low, ranging between 0.017 and 0.059 and 0.004 and 0.197 mg/mL, respectively. Therefore, the HPLC-RID method was simple, accurate, precise and specific and had the ability to simultaneously quantitatively evaluate fructose, glucose and sucrose in fruit juices. The analysis was carried out on a Phenomenex Luna Omega 100Ao sugar column (150mm x 4.60mm, 3 microns) with Phenomenex KJO-4282 pre-column (AJO-4495 cartridge) and isocratic elution of acetonitrile: water (75:25). , v/v). The analysis results of the fruit juice samples were in good agreement with those declared by the manufacturers. Although the sugar levels in the juices were of the same order of magnitude as those declared on the packaging by the manufacturers, the relative standard deviations of these readings (0.1%, 0.6% and 0.04% for fructose, glucose and sucrose) had no common measure with the relative errors of the total contents compared to those declared on the packaging (12.57%, 3.13% and 7.92% for apple juice, melon and banana/strawberry respectively) – errors which could not be negative under penalty of criminal prosecution by federal laws and regulations. The results showed that the content of the three sugars varied according to the juices (Table 11). While fructose (41% to 60%) and glucose (25% to 39%) appeared as common and majority sugars in the three juices, sucrose (13% to 20%) was only greater than 15%. only in juice and banana and strawberry. With a TR slightly higher than that of sucrose, it would have been interesting to extend the experiment to maltose, which is present in various fashionable sodas. The results demonstrated very good repeatability in terms of retention time, as well as excellent linearity over the concentration range tested.

Effects of Daily Raspberry Consumption on Immune-Metabolic Health in Subjects at Risk of Metabolic Syndrome: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Nutrients, 2020

Consumption of red raspberries has been reported to exert acute beneficial effects on postprandial glycemia, insulinemia, triglyceridemia, and cytokine levels in metabolically disturbed subjects. In a two-arm parallel-group, randomized, controlled trial, 59 subjects with overweight or abdominal obesity and with slight hyperinsulinemia or hypertriglyceridemia were randomized to consume 280 g/day of frozen raspberries or to maintain their usual diet for 8 weeks. Primary analyses measured metabolic differences between the groups. Secondary analyses performed with omics tools in the intervention group assessed blood gene expression and plasma metabolomic changes following the raspberry supplementation. The intervention did not significantly affect plasma insulin, glucose, inflammatory marker concentrations, nor blood pressure. Following the supplementation, 43 genes were differentially expressed, and several functional pathways were enriched, a major portion of which were involved in th...

Effets De Certains Acides Gras Alimentaires Sur Les Parametres Biochimiques De L’Atherosclerose Chez Le Rat

1997

In order to understand witch of the dietary fatty acid is inducing hypercholesterolemia, male wistar rats were subjected to a diets supplemented separately with either raffined Palm, olive, sunflower, soybean and fish oils. As a result, diet enriched with raffrned palm oil induced at the 1st generation a high level of ‘TC in comparison with the others diets more unsaturated. However, at the 3rd génération the level of TC was reduced significantly ; in contrast to the diets supplemented with sunflower oil witch increase signicantly the ratio. The increased level of of TC in the 1st generation on palm diet reflected the increase in the fraction of C-HDL, witch protect the subjects against athersclerosis. In contrast to this diet, the atherogenic C-LDL was increased in rats fed the sunflower and soybean diets. The fish diet exhibited significantly lower level of C-HDL. Thus, the favorable effect of sea products rapported by epidemiological studies might be exerced on the inhibition of ...
