Bio-oil, obtained through fast pyrolysis of solid biomass, serves as a promising renewable energy source. A novel approach involves converting biomass to bio-oil for transportation, followed by gasification to syngas and upgrading to fuels and chemicals. This study developed a comprehensive numerical model to simulate bio-oil gasification across various conditions and reactor geometries. Key findings indicate that the gasification process is influenced by equivalence ratios but independent of ambient pressure, allowing the design of large-scale gasifiers that can efficiently convert substantial quantities of bio-oil into syngas.
