Oil storages and main oil pipelines pumps database development

The object of research is a data model that characterizes the pumping units of main oil pipelines. The paper considers the creation of pumps database and their characteristics as a component of software systems designed to search for sources of energy saving in pipeline transportation of oil and oil products. An overview of existing programs for calculating the joint operation of an oil pumping station and a pipeline is given. It is shown that most programs are inaccessible for analyzing the applied data storage technologies, or involve manual input of entry data without using databases. Comparative analysis of spreadsheets and relational databases is performed. It is shown that relational databases better meet the requirements of data convenience, availability, scalability, and performance. A physical model of a relational database is presented. The parent and child entities have been established, which make it possible to fully reflect all information about the pumping unit, namely:-coefficients of hydraulic characteristics depending on the diameter of the impeller rotor;-characteristics depending only on the pump make;-classification of the pump by design or purpose. Relationship types and referential integrity rules are defined between entities when deleting or updating data. For data management, the SQLite system is proposed, which provides data manipulation in the SQL query language and does not require the development of additional software. The analysis of possible ways of organizing multilingualism using a database is carried out. The text of the SQL query is proposed, which allows to select the pump with its characteristics by the pump make and impeller diameter. A database structure is proposed that allows storing information about equipment for oil pipelines for various purposes, which makes it possible for automated calculations of complex technological processes. The pumping unit database is an open source project that is posted on the public web service GitHub.
Development of Software for Techno-Economic Analyzing of Crude Oil Pumping System
This research is a follow-up to a problem engaged by a company runs in oil industry. The problem is the difference between theoretic crude oil flow calculation and measurement result gathering from the field. This difference has to be solved because it can cause both technical and non-technical problems such as man power planning, operation cost, power consumption and other related economic aspects. To solve such problem, there are some steps necessary to be taken, such as literature study, valid data gathering, software development, and software validation and software application. In this research, an accurate software has been developed and applied to simulate pumping operation in various conditions. The simulation results show that the average pumps efficiency and electric power consumption are 49.83% and 2566.05 kW when all pumps are running and the total flow-rate of pumped crude oil is 0.26733m3/s. On the other hand the flow measurement in field yields the value of around 0.26744m3/s. It can be summarized that the software can be used to simulate pumping operation accurately. Furthermore the software is developed in order to be able to simulate and to optimize pumping operation when not all pumps are needed to operate. When all pumps are operating the pumping fee is US$ 0.58/Barrel Pure Crude Oil. When only one selected pump is operating pumping fee is US$ 0.23/Barrel Pure Crude Oil.

Use of Excel as an educational platform for design analyses of pump-pipe systems
This article demonstrates the usefulness of the computational platform formed by Excel, its Solver add-in, and the associated VBA programming language as an educational platform for design analyses of pump-pipe systems. The article focusses on the determination of the optimum standard-size pipe for a pump-pipe system to highlight the advantages of the Excel-based method in comparison with the traditional design method using charts and data tables.

Romania`s river basins need to be monitorized more efficiently for a better water resources management. The collecting data system is based on local operators who measure different parameters at the river basins hydrological stations. They write the measured values on paper every day. At the end of the month they transmit the papers to the Regional Hydrological Institution were other operators introduce the values in the computers. HYDROweb application allows users (local operators) from different hydrological stations around the river basin to introduce directly in the computer the measured hydrological values. Also this program analyses and facilitates the interpretation of the hydrological data.
Computer-Generated Pumping Schedules for Satisfying Operational Objectives

A new computer program can assist engineers, water utility managers, and pump station operators in selecting the most cost-effective combination of pumps to meet a specific system requirement over a given time period. The program provides operators with two options: (1) finding the least-cost pump combination that will place tank levels at desired elevations at the end of a specified time period, and (2) finding the most efficient pump combination that will supply a required pump demand over a specified time period. It is expected that such a tool will not only improve the overall operation of a system but will also allow insight into system performance.

During Feb 2011-Dec 2012 Tallinn Water Company (AS Tallinna Vesi) took a target to improve the previous hydraulic model creation procedures that can be updated through the available geographic information system (GIS), client information system (Navision), supervisory control and data acquisition system (SCADA). The Phase 1 was finished in May 2012. The current phase, Phase 2, started in summer 2012 and included pressure measurement point selections, data validation and model calibration.

Exploration and Production companies need to know where are the oil and gas reservoirs, how much they hold, and whether they can profitably produce oil and gas. Data collection, management and analysis are therefore central to the industry. As in most application areas, raw data are processed, implying several tools and experts interactions. Nevertheless, the oil an gas sector data processes imply unusual scale of, multimodal and long-lived, data alongside with complex analysis. DataPipe is a research project funded by the Eurostars Program of the European Commission which purpose is to develop a platform, toolkit and pipeline for the intelligent, rule-based selection, management, analysis, publishing and display of heterogeneous multimodal data in the oil and gas sector. This paper describes Actinote 4.0, a flexible web-based platform, which is developed to respond to the specified Datapipe context and is dedicated to the creation of specific domain-based process assistant applications that are certified by expert systems.
