Parents’ and guardians’ experiences of barriers and facilitators in accessing autism spectrum disorder diagnostic services for their children (original) (raw)
This research explores the barriers and facilitators experienced by parents and guardians in accessing diagnostic services for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) for their children. With the increasing prevalence of ASD globally and its significant economic and social burden, understanding these challenges is crucial for improving timely diagnosis and intervention. A systematic review of existing literature reveals numerous barriers including stigma, socioeconomic factors, and healthcare inadequacies, while facilitators include educational and economic advantages. The study highlights the need for a comprehensive synthesis of relevant literature to inform healthcare professionals and policymakers, addressing gaps in existing research.
