Abstract

Abstract: Hoax news has been spreading for a long time, with various types of news. The difference is, in the past, hoax news circulated by word of mouth and it was very dangerous because every hoax news that circulated was peppered with words or sentences that were very hurtful. In the past, paper was a medium of information, hoax news was written on paper leaflets that were packaged nicely at that time. After that, mobile phones appeared, making it easier for hoax news to circulate. Currently, hoax news is easily spread on social media in seconds. The purpose of this study is to educate youth and the public so that they can be smarter in responding to fake news obtained by the community via mass media and the internet. The method used is a qualitative method with a descriptive design. Descriptive qualitative is a research design that is used to answer questions in the form of who, what, and when a phenomenon or experience occurs.
