In April 2006, the Michigan State Board of Educaon and Michigan Legislatures adopted a rigorous package of high school graduaon requirements, one of which made Michigan the first state that incorporated an online learning graduaon requirement into the K‐12 curriculum. All Michigan's students entering high school during 2008‐2009 school year were required to complete online learning during their course of high school studies in order to graduate. Michigan Virtual School helped the schools in Michigan to fulfill this requirement by developing a 20‐hour online learning course called " Career Forward ". In December 2008, the Michigan Virtual University provided the Naonal Repository of Online Courses access to the CareerForward course content, allowing students from anywhere in the United States, the ability to access CareerForward free of charge. This evaluaon study was conducted to provide Michigan Virtual School with informaon to improve the design and delivery of the Career Forward course, in order to improve the learning experiences of the future students and to improve the overall efficiency of the course. Analysis of data from this research indicated that, CareerForward in its current format had very lile impact on student atude towards career planning. Recommendaons for changes in design and delivery opons of the course for future offerings are suggested in order to make the course more effecve and to meet its objecves.
CAREER GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING PORTAL FOR SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

This paper developed a web based Career Guidance and Counselling (CGC) portal to mitigate the problems of traditional counselor-client interaction process, which is a paper-based procedure that has a lot of flaws. These flaws include: poor record management, delay in accessing student's record and unavailability of central database to manage records electronically. Interviews and observations were used to collect data from both students and the school counselors. The portal enables students to take career guidance independently at their own convenience. It can also enable the students test themselves on some selected questions in the form of a quiz. The system is designed following a sound engineering principle i.e., from requirements gathering, software requirement specification, design and implementation, testing to deployment. Data flow diagrams and use case scenarios are used to demonstrate the functionality of the web portal. Using Hypertext Preprocessor Pages (PHP) programming language, a proof of concept was developed to illustrate the features and functionality of the portal. The outcome is a robust web Portal suitable for Guidance and Counselling that is user friendly.
The effectiveness of digital module to improve career planning of junior high school students

Career planning is an activity to help students determine future careers, such as high school, jobs and desired positions. The digital module is an alternative that can be used to convey career planning material to students. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of digital modules in improving junior high school students’ career planning. This research is an experimental study using a quasi-experimental design method. The career planning instruments was tested for validation using confirmatory factor analysis, resulting in 17 valid items and a reliability of 0.830. The subjects of this study were junior high school students from the seventh-grade level. The result shows that digital modules effectively improve junior high school students’ career planning, with an n-gain score of 0.60. Fostering Counseling Students' Career Information Literacy Through a Comprehensive Career Web Site

Counseling students need to become knowledgeable about existing online career development tools to provide effective career development services today. The authors describe the characteristics of a Web site developed to foster career information literacy among students taking graduate career courses and examine its academic usefulness. Student evaluations suggest that the Web site is useful in promoting career information literacy and knowledge. Students who used the Web site showed a significant gain in perceived self-knowledge as well as in actual knowledge of career information. Ways of using the career Web site to improve students' knowledge of online career resources are explored. 2 Career development is a major component of most master's degree programs in counseling. To effectively help individuals with career decisions, counselors need to be aware of and comfortable with on-line career development tools and career information. Today, career counseling students must be able to access career information from a variety of sources, analyze and evaluate this information, and integrate it to construct a knowledge base from which to make informed decisions. Current ways of delivering career information, which include computer-and online-based systems such as the O*NET (onetcenter. org) and the online Occupational Outlook Handbook (Murray, 2003; Stevens & Lundberg, 1998), create a need for counselor educators to train students to acquire technical competencies, learn how to use technology effectively, and become career information literate. In this article, we describe a Web site that has been developed to foster career information literacy, review its academic usefulness, and discuss ways in which it can be used in career courses. Career planning is a process that needs to be prepared to achieve career goals. However, since many students have not been able to determine their goals, they often fail in making career decision and planning. Thus, the current study was done to describe Senior High School students’ needs for a blended learning-based career information service model. It was conducted by having a qualitative survey design with Focused Group Discussion (FGD) method participated by 10 Guidance and Counseling teachers through MGBK or Guidance and Counseling Teacher Forum in Demak Regency and career planning scale distributed to 150 students to obtain the descriptive data. ICT-ASSISTED CAREER GUIDANCE: A CASE STUDY IN A PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN BEIRUT, LEBANON
This study investigated the impact of using ICT in delivering a career guidance program in one public high school in Beirut, Lebanon. The sample consisted of Grade 11 students (N=106) from all sections of this grade level. Students at this school often received the same career guidance program consisting of 14 hours during their tenth grade and then their eleventh grade. The ICT-assisted career guidance intervention program was conducted after students covered 6 hours of their regular career guidance program during their eleventh grade and it extended over 6 hours itself. Pre-and post-tests were administered to students and data was analyzed using SPSS 21.0 for windows. An independent sample t-test was carried to compare the means showing significant impact of the ICT-assisted intervention program on students. Limitations and recommendations are provided at the end of the study.

This study aims to propose a model of Industrial Design Career Information System (IDCIS) to help ID students plan their career. The study was divided into three stages. The content analysis of nine relevant websites framed a basic structure of IDCIS. Next, four focus groups with a total of twenty-four ID students were interviewed to find out what career information they would like to know. Finally, a web-based model of IDCIS was simulated and eight ID students were invited to provide their feedback. The outcome would provide an integrated base to help students be aware of the ID profession and plan their career in advance during the school years. Also, the process of constructing a model of IDCIS adopted by this study could be a reference for other fields.

This study aims to create a Holland-based career guidance and counseling module as a guide in designing career guidance and counseling for high school students in Gorontalo Province. This study uses research and development methods consisting of several steps: defining potentials and problems, data collection, product design, design validation, revision, and product testing. Referring to qualitative research, the data obtained came from expert validation questionnaires and product test questionnaires. This development study eventually created a Holland-based career guidance and counseling module. This module can be used by Guidance and counseling teachers as a career design guide because it has passed the expert validation test from guidance and counseling experts, language experts, and learning media design experts.
