Background: Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) is an important factor for self-management behaviors of diabetic patients. These behaviors have special importance in preventing complications of diabetes. Objectives: This study has been conducted to evaluate HRQoL of diabetic patients referred to Tehran hospitals. Patients and Methods: In this descriptive study patients were selected from diabetes clinics of general hospitals in Tehran. A demographic and disease characteristics questionnaire and short-form of health survey (SF-36) were used for the data collection. The data were analyzed with SPSS software. Results: 140 diabetic patients with average age of 47.3 ± 12.7 years participated in this study. The range of HRQoL scores in different domains varied from 46.2 ± 13 for general health perceptions to 64.1 ± 26.6 for physical functioning. There were significant differences according to age, sex, educational level, type of diabetes, type of treatment, and different HRQoL dimensions. Conclusions: HRQoL of diabetic patients is related to several variables. Considering of variables will be important for improving HRQoL of diabetic patients.

Background: Diabetes is a chronic disease that its prevalence will double in the world by 2030. According to the report of world health organization (WHO) in 2014, diabetes is the fourth main disease contributing to premature death among Iranians. Objectives: According to the third national program of care system for risk factors of non-communicable diseases, the prevalence of diabetes is reported to be more than 8 percent. Given the high prevalence of diabetes and its importance, the aim of this study was compare the quality of life in patients with type II diabetes and healthy people in Kerman. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional. Two hundred diabetic patient and 200 healthy people participated in this study. The WHOQOL-BREF was used to collect data. Results: This study showed that score of quality of life in all dimension in diabetic patients were fewer than healthy people impressively (P < 0.05). The score of quality of life in physical dimension was higher in men than women (P = 0.035) and it was also higher in people graduated in diploma than other levels of education (P = 0.047). Conclusions: To recapitulate, since chronic diabetes disease is not fatal, the patients will not be recovered and they practically have the disease and its complications over their entire life, it is recommended to address the quality of life among these patients' especially physical and psychological domains.
Health related quality of life in both types of diabetes in Shiraz, Iran
Aim: We assessed the dimensions of health related quality of life (HRQOL) in our area, Shiraz, Iran. Method: In this cross sectional study 300 diabetic patients of both types (I, II) in two specified diabetic healthcare centers and two hundred concomitants of the patients as healthy individuals were enrolled conveniently. Reliable and valid Persian SF-36 questionnaire were used for assessing HRQOL. Data were entered in SPSS 15 and p value less than 0.05 was considered to be significant. Result: Difference of scores between patient and control group in scales of physical functioning, physical problems, body pain, general health perception, social functioning, emotional problems, p-value were less than 0.001 while for vitality p-value was 0.102 and 0.200 for mental health. HRQoL scores of two genders did not differ significantly in patients. There were significant linear correlation between age, educational state, duration of disease and some aspects of QOL.

Background and aims: Diabetes is considered as the most prevalent disease due to metabolic disorders. This study aimed to determine the effect of an educational on the quality of life) QOL( in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM ). Material and methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted in the form of a pre-test/post-test with intervention. The statistical sample of this study included 70 patients with type 2 diabetes living in the rural areas in the city of Ilam (west of Iran). The data were analyzed using the SPSS software version 20 via descriptive statistics, paired t-student test, independent samples t-student test, and ANOVA. Results: Except social role functioning, all aspects of QOL significantly increased after intervention (p<0.001). Globally, diabetes is ranked as the 4th leading cause of death in terms of disease and places a huge strain on public health funding. Quality of life (QOL) is an important and understudied topic in the diabetes. Most studies reports that quality of life among people with diabetes is worse than QOL in general population. Thus, this study is aimed to assess health related quality of life of diabetic patients. We conducted a hospital- based non experimental prospective study. Total 50 diabetic patients were enrolled in this study by using purposive sampling technique. Short-Form 36 questionnaire was used to assess the QOL of diabetic patients.
