A SOCIOLINGUISTIC ANALYSIS OF THE INFLUENCE OF GENDER ON THE LANGUAGE USE OF 400 LEVEL STUDENTS (original) (raw)

The study analyzes the influence of gender on language use among 400 level students at A.B.U., Zaria, focusing on how differing communication styles lead to misunderstandings. Through questionnaires and audio recordings, it reveals that men and women exhibit different speech patterns, affecting aspects like turn-taking and topic shifts, ultimately contributing to miscommunication. The findings highlight that while both genders use similar forms of language, their frequency and context of use differ, influenced by cultural and environmental factors.
