Abstract

The objective of this research is to provide a historical examination of the legal situation of the Caspian, including analyses of first the politi¬cal controversy over the delimitation of the sea after the fall of the Soviet Union, and secondly the official posi¬tions of the littoral states. The third section will seek to identify which international norms and principles are applicable in order to resolve this contentious problem.
