P.07.8: Outcome of Self-Expandable Metallic Stents for Malignant Colon Obstruction (original) (raw)
The research investigates the use of self-expandable metallic stents (SEMS) as a bridge to surgery for patients with malignant colon obstruction due to colorectal cancer. The study encompasses a retrospective analysis involving 33 patients treated with SEMS between January 2007 and December 2014, evaluating technical and clinical success rates, operative timing, and complications. Findings indicate that SEMS placement can facilitate better surgical outcomes by optimizing patient conditions, with a significant rate of primary anastomosis and manageable postoperative complications.
