This paper investigates quality of home environment and psychological abilities of underprivileged children of rural Haryana. To achieve the main objectives of the study, 400 children belonging to lower income group were selected randomly from Hisar and Ambala districts of Haryana state. The home environment was assessed by Mohite's Home Environment Inventory, and psychological abilities of the children were measured by McCarthy Scales of Children's Abilities Scale. The results showed that the majority of underprivileged mothers provided poor home environment to their children. Most of the children of Hisar and Ambala districts repoted in the present study had mental age below their chronological age and had poor verbal, perception, quantitative, memory, motor abilities and general cognition. Deprived home environment influenced developmental levels of the children which resulting poor verbal, perception, quantitative, memory, motor and general cognition. © Kamla-Raj 2013 Stud Home Com Sci, 7(3): 157-160 (2013)
Impact of areas of home environment on psychological wellbeing among adolescent
Objective was to study the impact of areas of home environment on psychological wellbeing among adolescents and to study the relationship between areas of home environment and psychological wellbeing among adolescents. The hypothesis states that there is no significant relationship between areas of home environment and psychological wellbeing among adolescents. A sample of 60 adolescents aged between 18-23 was considered for this study. Pearson’s product moment correlation was tabulated to obtain the results. The results showed that the dimension of control, protectiveness, punishment, conformity, social isolation, reward, nurturance, rejection and permissiveness are not related to psychological wellbeing thus accepting the hypothesis which states that there is no significant relationship between the areas of home environment and psychological well being. The dimension of deprivation of privileges is related to psychological wellbeing thus rejecting the hypothesis which states that there is no significant relationship between the areas of home environment and psychological well being.
Home Environment as a Predictor of Psychological Well Being Among Adolescents

The main objective of this study was to explore the relationship between psychological well being and home environment of adolescents in a sample of 260 adolescents from Patiala district of Punjab. The results of a correlation analysis revealed a positively significant relationship of psychological well being with protectiveness, conformity, reward and nurturance dimensions of home environment among adolescents. However, a negatively significant relationship of psychological well being with control and punishment dimensions of home environment among adolescents was observed. A stepwise multiple regression analysis was run to examine the extent to which the various dimensions of home environment contributed to the variability in psychological well being among adolescents. Influence of Home Environment on Adolescent Psychological Well-being
To analyze the pattern in which home environment affected various aspects of psychological well-being of adolescents,153 higher secondary school students were selected randomly from five schools of Kerala state. Data collected using psychological well-being scale and home environment inventory, on analysis, revealed significant correlations between the subscales of both measurements. As per multiple regressions, negative HE mainly affected the “interpersonal-relation” and “sociability” levels of adolescents. Disciplinary variables showed significant predictive power in “satisfaction”, “sociability”, and “interpersonal relationship” aspects of psychological well-being. Meanwhile, Positive HE variables exhibited significant predictive power in all the five aspects of psychological well-being. Demographic variables hadn’t any significant effect on psychological well-being. Counselors, parents, teachers and other caretakers will be benefitted from these revelations about the subtle environmental pathways into the psychological well-being of adolescents.
A Study of Academic Achievement Relation to Home Environment of Secondary School Students

The present study was conducted on hundred students to find out the relationship between academic achievement and home environment of students studying in private and Govt School going badnapur. Data were collected Home environment scale developed by Dr. Karuna Shankar Mishra. The results of the study revealed that a significantly positive relationship of home environment components of control, protectiveness, conformity, rewards, nurturance, permissiveness with academic achievement, there by meaning that it can be affected the academic achievement of students and But Social isolation dimension of home environment is negatively associated to academic achievement. However, the correlation of other components of home environment is not significantly relevant to academic achievement. The results show that the t-Ratio of Academic Achievement of boys and girls student and also private and govt school going students. The study has implications for educationists and parents as well.
A STUDY OF ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT IN RELATION TO HOME ENVIRONMENT OF SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS
Parents are an essential part of their Childs environment. Adults need to have a positive view of them (self concept) and serve as role model for their children. Self awareness is another key part of child's development. This is why the parents' ability to provide wings is so important. In order to succeed, children need to gain confidence in their abilities and gain a sense that they can do things on their own. The precious time between birth and maturity gives parents many opportunities to balance roots and wings. Parents can lead the way in providing experiences that enhance their children view of themselves. This way parents can builds self esteem in their children and themselves in order to improve the quality of their lives and strengthen family relationship. Home environment not only influences the academic achievement but also affects the mental condition of a child. The first lesson of a child's life is learnt at home. The family nurtures the individual and prepares him for his role and function in the society. Healthy parental relations in the home are a medium for making children into wholesome and adjustable personalities. These ongoing changes in the society have not only affected the thinking of people but has also changed the perceptions of people, their lifestyles, even the dimensions of anxiety have changed, now even the small children are facing different kinds of pressures, so adolescence which is considered an age of storm and strife is bound to have more pressures which affect their emotional maturity. The main objective of the topic is to find out the effect of home environment on different dimensions of emotional maturity of adolescents of Bilaspur District of Chhattisgarh. A sample size of 120 Adolescents was selected and taken up for the study. Home Environment Inventory by Karuna Shankar Mishra and Emotional Maturity Scale by Dr. Yasvir Singh & Dr. Mahesh Bhargava are used for the study. It is found that there is significant effect of home environment on all the dimensions of emotional maturity of adolescents.

Home Environment as Percieved by Adolescents of Kerala
The study which took place in the Thrissur district of Kerala state explored the psychological environment of 290 families of adolescents using Home Environment Inventory prepared by Karuna Shanker Misra. The aim of the study was to get a clear picture of how adolescents perceived their home environments. A detailed frequency table revealed the nature of distribution of various aspects of the psychological environment prevalent in the families of selected adolescents. T-test and single factor ANOVA were the main statistical tests carried out to estimate the differences in the perceived home environment of adolescents along four dimensions namely, gender, age, place of residence and the type of school studied. Gender difference was very prominent in six aspects of the perceived HE. The type of school adolescent studied exhibited a significant role in seven aspects of HE. Meanwhile age and place of residence of adolescents were significant only in two dimensions of HE namely control and permissiveness.
