Zermürbung und Zuversicht : Otto Kuss als Ausleger des Hebräerbriefs (original) (raw)

2006

Abstract

On the occasion of his 100 th birthday, the present paper considers the trailblazing contribution to the interpretation of the Epistle to the Hebrews by Otto Kuss, late New Testament scholar in Paderbom and Munich. It is the changes in 20 th century Roman Catholic theology that form the background of Kuss' explanatory approach, which was both exegetically precise and theologically ambivalent, and which is deeply rooted in his biography: He was able to be an empathic interpreter of the Epistle to the Hebrews because he shared its essential situation: wandering through deserts, sometimes disorientated, and searching for the "anchor of the soul".
