Water and planning: hypothesis for the coast of Granada, Spain (original) (raw)

Management of Environmental Quality: An International Journal, 2004

Abstract

In this article the formulation of a water management hypothesis for the Granada coastal area is presented from a research perspective aimed at fostering the evaluation of the interactions between water and territory. In the past the seasonal nature, irregular availability, and scarcity of this resource have not been sufficiently taken into account in land planning in southern Spain. For this reason, this article first focuses on a detailed description of the factors that are crucial for the elaboration of scenarios that will enhance environmental efficiency, territorial balance, and sustained development, all of which are conducive to improved water planning and management.
