Attitudes of Nursing Students Towards’ Ethical Values. Comparative study in two country

Background Ethical values are a guideline for behavior in certain situations. They take on particular importance in patient care. Ethical values depend on many factors including culture. Objective The aim of the study is to compare the attitudes of nursing students from different countries towards ethical values. Design: A cross-sectional study design was used. Methods The aim of this study is to compare the attitudes of nursing students towards ethical values. 463 students participated in the survey, including 191 from Poland and 272 from Turkiye. The study was conducted from April to June 2022. For the purposes of this study was used Ethical Values Scale (IEVS). The criteria for excluding participants from the study were nursing student status and consent to participate in the study. Results The IEVE total score for all respondents was 68.20 and the median was 68. In the individual subscales: Love-Respect 34.76 (median 35), Justice-Honesty 21.29 (median 21) and Cooperation 12.14 (median 12). Polish students' total IEVS score average was 70.48 ± 6.81 and Turkish students' IEVS total score average was 66.61 ± 9.65. There is a statistically signi cant difference between the total score average on the IEVS of students from the two countries (p < 0.001). Conclusion The formation of ethical attitudes among students should be strengthened, paying attention to their cultural conditions. Research should be continued, expanding to include other socio-cultural factors.
Ethical values in nursing education: a literature review

Introduction: Nursing begins with education and educational ethics guarantees the health the process of teaching and learning in the universities. Exact definition of the ethical values related to learning and education helps the students to receive the best education they deserve. Moreover, it also helps to recognize the status of science and dignity of the educators. This study was adopted in order to determine ethical values for nursing education in various countries. Materials and Methods: This literature review was conducted based on the Center for Reviews and Dissemination guidelines in 2016-17. The search of article in English was carried out in Medline, CINAHL, PubMed, Scopus, Ovid and Proquest databases. The search of article in Persian was conducted in databases of Magiran, SID, and Irandoc publication. After assessing and analyzing the obtain data, 14 articles were chosen and subjected to a thorough study. Results: The search led to the identification of 3 main competencies related to ethical values in nursing education, including personality competency, technical-professional competency, and socio-cultural competency. Discussion: Analysis of the literature related to ethical values in nursing education suggests that categorizing ethical values based the three aforementioned major competencies may provide a proper framework for the assessment of these values in different areas of education, research, and management in nursing education institutes and to evaluate their performance. However, considering the cultural diversity and prevailing philosophy in different societies, it is important to define these values clearly in the context of the target educational population.

Background An academic environment is the first place that nursing students are introduced to ethics related to nursing and healthcare. In this study, we explored the nursing faculty members’ point of view regarding noncompliance with these academic ethics. Methods This study was a qualitative descriptive study conducted in 2018. Faculty members at a nursing school were selected through purposeful sampling. Data was collected using semi-structured interviews. The interviews were digitally recorded and transcribed verbatim. Data collection and data analysis were conducted simultaneously. Data saturation was ensured with 11 interviews. The interview transcripts were analyzed using a qualitative content analysis method introduced by Elo and Kyngäs. Nurse Academicians’ Attitudes Related to Academic Ethical Values and Related Factors

Effectively addressing violations of human rights requires dealing with complex, multi-spatial problems involving actors at local, national and international levels. It also calls for a diverse range of inter-disciplinary skills. How can tertiary educators prepare students for such work? This study evaluates the coordinated implementation of human rights simulations at seven Australian universities. Based on quantitative and qualitative survey data from 252 students, we find they report that human rights simulation exercises develop their skills. In particular, students report that they feel better able to analyse and productively respond to human rights violations, and that they have a greater awareness of the inter-disciplinary skills required to do so. Overall, this study finds that simulations are a valid, scalable, classroom-based work integrated learning experience that can be adapted for students at undergraduate and postgraduate level, across a range of disciplines and in both face-to-face and online classes.

Purpose : Identify the levels of importance of ethical values in the nursing profession as perceived by the head nurses and the staff nurses, and compare the levels of importance of ethical values in the nursing profession as perceived by head nurses and those as perceived by staff nurses in public hospitals, Banda Aceh, Indonesia. Background & Aims: Ethics in nursing care is very important and professional competence. In nursing, ethics means that the nursing care is based on the principles of bioethics. However the ethical care and ethical competence in nursing students are important unanswered questions. More studies should be carried out in this regard. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted with 203 postgraduate students enrolled in the Health Sciences Institute. Ethical values offer a framework for behavior assessment, and nursing values influence nurses' goals, strategies, and actions. A literature review was adopted in order to determine and define ethical values for nurses. This literature review was conducted based on the Centre for Reviews and Dissemination guidelines. Perceived Academic Code of Ethics:A Research on Turkish Academics
Ethics is a difficult and controversial concept. Many businesses and nearly all professions have a code of ethics. The existence of a code of ethics in a profession means that unethical behaviour may not be allowed or tolerated. Thus, members of a profession do not display their unacceptable behaviour. Code of ethics for academics is distinct from moral codes that may apply to the culture, education, and religion of a whole society. Academics play the role of educators, researchers, administrators, consultants, professional colleagues, and professors. This article tries to identify a code of ethics for academics in their role as educators/teachers. There is a lack of Turkish academic code of ethics. Thus, the research sample is consisted of 100 academics employed in both public and private universities in Istanbul. We used the five point scales of “The Statement on Professional Ethics” for academics developed by AAUP and refined by AOM and AMA. Based on the analysis, we identified the hypernorms related to academics in their role as educators. Thus, behaviours deemed ethically unacceptable by the community of academics in Istanbul, Turkey were identified and discussed.
