Web based training: What do we expect from the system

Generally speaking a Web Based Training (WBT) system is supposed to maintain an educational process available "anytime anywhere" by means of World Wide Web (WWW) technology. Practically, any WWW site containing educational material is called a WBT system. All experienced users have discovered that there is a considerable gap between these two definitions.
THE WEB-BASED EDUCATION JOURNEY: A CONSTANT LIFELINE
E-learning has revolutionized our realm in more than just a listable number of ways. But it took a paradigm shift when it entered the threshold of the varsity system. With the prevailing spoon-feeding era, are the students really ¬industry ready? We answer that by confirming a fact: web-based learning has become the oxygen of freshers in the IT Industry instead of the traditional learning done through graduation. Furthermore, are university enforced e-learning assessment systems a true representation of a student's proficiency? This paper is a peep into what web-based e-learning systems are to a student of today's world, by giving an overview of university-level e-learning in India deploying an example from SRM University's organizational framework. It assesses a key e-learning trend, the implementation of which bridges the gap between universities and the industry. It is proposed to provide constructive feedback to the e-learning community and shine some light on areas of scope for future developments.
Towards success: steps in an effective web-based education

To have more successful online students, a country should have more successful training programs which are delivered to students according to their needs. An understanding of the factors that influence student satisfaction with web-based education in a particular context can be used as an input for the appropriate design of learning environments. A critical review of literature is carried out with the aim of developing a more practical framework for achieving success in web-based education. Furthermore, to capture data about online learners training needs, the authors have created an online questionnaire, consisting of 20 items, and they have posted it on Surveymonkey.com. The questionnaire was distributed in two countries (Turkey and Cyprus), in Turkish, to over 700 students. A total of 495 questionnaires were filled in three months. The responses collected based on the questionnaire differed significantly among the two countries. Students choose Skype and Wiki as their favourite web tools. The study reveals that E-Books, Message Forms, Site Search, Chat Rooms, Email Platform, Speaking Characters are important facilities of a web-based education for students. Based on this study, the researchers have extracted 10 recommendations.
A 360 Degree View of Web Based Learning

This paper aims to explore the views of stakeholders about the web based learning. Data were collected from 201 students, 124 faculty members, 191 parents and 71 employers. Four separate summative content analyses were used for analyzing the data. Results indicated that students were happy for securing good marks during online exams and were not concerned about the learning opportunities. Whereas, majority of parents were concerned about the learning of their children. However, both parents and students consider online education to be the waste of money but consider it to be a good mechanism for continuing academic activities during the pandemic. Results also indicated that majority of faculty members were concerned about the learning of students. Plagiarism during online exam was the greatest concern of the faculty members. Lastly, it is also found that the potential employers consider online teaching methods to be inefficient and the quality of future labor supply was their biggest concern. Hence, the concept of zone of proximal development cannot be ignored while imparting education.
The Evolution of a Web-based Course: What We Did and What We Learnt
Web-based learning has become one of the emerging directions in higher education all over the world. The Web offers a vast number of resources and enormous opportunities for more effective learning. Yet, Web-based learning is in its infancy in many parts of the world including Hong Kong and many courses are still using a mixture of face-to-face and Web-based instruction.
