The aim of this study is to analyze the basic psychological needs and job satisfaction levels of trainers working actively in the province of Samsun. The study has a variation design, one of the types of mixed research model (quantitative-qualitative). In the qualitative part of the study, sample group consists of 10 trainers working actively in the province of Samsun, while the quantitative part consists of 109 trainers. In the study, as data collection tool, an 8-item semi-structured interview form developed by Vardağlı and Çankaya (2020) was used to determine the basic psychological needs of coaches, while Job Satisfaction Scale, which was developed by Brayfield and Rothe (1951), revised by Judge, Locke, Durham and Kluger (1998) as a 5-item short form and adapted to Turkish by Keser and Bilir (2019) was used to examine job satisfaction levels. The voice recordings obtained in the qualitative part of the study were transcribed and analyzed with content analysis method after being transferred to Nvivo program. In the quantitative part of the study, all statistical calculations were made with SPSS 22.0 V. statistical package program. The results of the study showed that trainers observed developments in athletes' characteristics such as self-confidence, leadership, communication, etc., they paid attention to issues such as injuries and psychological states of athletes during training, trainers could generally transfer information but this process was negatively affected by physical conditions and lack of equipment, trainers defined themselves as innovative and fighter, most trainers showed their reactions to athletes with words or mimics in case of failure, and the psychology of trainers was negatively affected by problems such as not being able to decide independently, their views' not being taken into consideration by managers, promotions, unfavorable working conditions, not receiving their overtime working rights, and having insufficient salary. It was found that trainers had views and made suggestions such as guiding athletes to sports, giving more place to sports in schools, and trainers updating themselves for success. In addition, it was found that there were no significant differences between trainers' job satisfaction levels in terms of their working status, level of education, level of income, and state of doing sport; female trainers and trainers who trained athletes doing individual sports had higher levels of job satisfaction.
