2013
The ever increasing use of ICT in higher education institutions is a part of the social and economic changes affecting all countries and regions. Governments and companies see universities as the engines of these changes, and ICT as a tool for knowledge dissemination anywhere and anytime. A better integration of ICT in the education environment would not only help students and teachers, but would also contribute to the development of international networks of educational institutions. The paper evaluates the use of ICT in the educational process in higher education in Albania and the challenges that these institutions face in the process of integrating ICT into teaching practice in order to develop the whole country. The proposed conclusions and recommendations make a valid topic for further research.

Application of the ICT in teaching in secondary schools in Republic of Macedonia
2015
The use of the information and communication technology (ICT) is not an aim in itself in the learning process. E-learning has become a prerequisite for achieving the vision that favors the integration of ICT in education. (European Commission – Directorate – General for Education and Culture (2003), E-Learning, Better E-Learning for Europe). In order to investigate the situation in order of application of ICT in teaching in secondary schools in Macedonia, we conducted a research in the last quarter of 2013. The research was conducted in four secondary schools (gymnasium education) (the schools were with approximately the same level of development in terms of material and technical equipment and situatedness with IC technology) located in the East of the Republic of Macedonia. The research involved 109 teachers who teach subjects of social-humanist area. In the digital age, the importance of ICT education and the challenges of the education sector cannot be overstated. The aim of this study was to evaluate the current situation in the tenth to twelve grade pre-university institutions through a questionnaire administered by the pupils in those classes. The questionnaire specifically requested feedback regarding the teaching quality in ICT, the functionality of ICT laboratories in their schools, the adequacy of ICT equipment used during lessons, the availability of internet access on school premises, the utilization of various software for ICT learning, and the specific areas within ICT where students required additional learning.
— It is no novelty that development of computers and information technology during 80s and 90s of the last century has changed the world. Today we cannot imagine any serious work without a computer. Life with using computers has become an everyday occurrence. In recent years, computers and multimedia schools are more and more used, creating high-quality process of education. There is a growing need for modern schools and contemporary teachers. For the implementation of modern educational institutions, information technology (IT) is a key factor. IT has become a must in the educational system, because if we need the system to be successful, it must follow the trends. IT has the role in all spheres of life, including schools. They are used not only in the administration, but also in the classrooms. By applying various IT resources, the quality of teaching is a lot better and more diverse. Students use the Internet in order to perform faster and easier access to different information. IT led to the innovation of educational technology in terms of efficiency, effectiveness and flexibility of presenting information.
Albanian Universities and e - Learning
European Journal of Social Sciences Education and Research, 2015
Today’s society is undergoing great transformations in every sector. One of the most important transformations of the social life is the making of technology and internet available to masses. The technology and internet have also visibly transformed the education sector. The society is facing continuous challenges related to the competition, globalisation and the demand from the job market for qualified employees. These challenges go by side by side with the transformation of the education sector, where a great deal is being invested on the use of ICT, mass education, and the introduction of new methods and tools of teaching. The use of ICT and e-Learning is an important challenge faced by Albanian universities in the mission to improve the quality of teaching, students’ results, and mass education, and achieve the necessary standards. Priorities like equal access to education and lifelong learning would be only slogans without the use of ICT and e-Learning. Polls and interviews wer...

Integrating ICT in Teachers Education - Case study at "Goce Delcev" University
Food Chemistry, 2010
Faculty of Education at the University "Goce Delcev"-Stip is a leading institution in the implementation of new technologies in education in Macedonia. Faculty of Education has realized many international and local projects under the patronage of the MES of RM and USAID, as well as one EU TEMPUS project. The main idea of the projects was to integrate ICT in the curriculum of the Faculty of Education, and the students, the future teachers to be familiar with the application of ICT in education. Generally, known problems are emerged here: a lack of equipment, insufficient training for use of equipment, lack of digital resources for use in education and so on. At present, most of these problems are solved, but things still are not going as it should. Now we have classrooms full of technology but that technology is insufficiently used by teachers. Also, we found that there were new problems: motivation and desire to use ICT, and insufficient monitoring of ICT development. In this paper our experiences and lessons learned in the implementation of projects and in the process of integration of ICT in the teaching process are described.

The use of technology in schools in reasonably large scale began in many developed countries earnest in the 1980s and in the 1990s. Commercial usage of the Internet and fast development of Information Technology helped convince governments of these countries that the time was right to make large investments in ICTs. In most middle and low developed countries, this process started a little later, and have (until recently) proceeded more slowly. As a result, in the last ten years, education systems began to adopt the use of ICT policies in significant amounts (or are planning to do so). On the other hand, Programs and Curricula from the fields of Information & Communication Technology (ICT), which are the research focus of this paper, have to be updated very frequently as a result of fast development in the last 10 years. The first author of this paper used his experience and knowledge of different Educations Systems situation in SEE Countries, as he was the Member of The Kosovo State Council for Curriculum (KSCC), from 2009 to 2013. The existing structure of the education system of SEE countries need to be supported with the necessary ICT equipment and Software, which will engage the students in the Society of Knowledge. This is also the case for the training and qualifications of teachers, although there are individual cases involving ICT in teacher training programs. Through this paper, which propose the new concept of the education system, the conclusion recognizes the need to introduce ICT and EU standards. Management Systems in the field of education of SEE countries are mostly outdated and inadequate and does not use the possibilities offered by ICT. Hence there is a need to introduce ICT in the management system and the system that ensures the quality of the education system. This research paper investigates the importance of ICT and the impact on: curriculum development and implementation, Student/Learner-centered teaching/learning, Competency-based approaches, Integrated teaching and learning, Flexibility and mobility, Transparency and accountability. Finally, the research shows that the ICT and e-learning literacy of teachers needs to change and academics need to embrace new technology since SEE countries are now reconnected to the most recent developments in science, technology and culture. The methodology of the research is focused on the comparative model of this issue, between the models in EU and SouthEast European Countries (SEE). The main conclusions and recommendations will be useful to be implemented within Educational Systems of SEE countries, and as an impact, the contribution of the paper will be shown as a possible model of Education System supported be ICT in the countries of SEE

eLearning and Software for Education
Nowadays, the evolution of technology directly influences the daily life in all its aspects - from the way we follow the latest events to the way we communicate with other people. It’s a common fact that students use technology at home, for entertainment and more and more for educational activities. Inevitably, these influences are felt even in teaching activities. In present-day, education and school gave up the idea of the existence of an absolute and universal method, claiming a flexible, adaptable, and efficient methodology. Thus, taking into account the impact of technological evolution on the educational environment, efficient use of ICT can lead to an increased quality of education. Knowledge-based information society requires the use of technology as a benchmark of substantive changes in educational systems, this by itself attracting a number of challenges among both teachers and students. Starting with the set of digital literacy that each teacher must have in order to effe...
