APPLICATION OF ENGINEERING STUDIES OF METHODS IN THE PLANNING OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE AND OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT OF THE PRODUCTION PLANT (Atena Editora), 2023

Production Planning and Control: The Dissemination Tool of the Operation Strategy

2016

The objective of this research is to analyze the Production Planning and Control (PPC) as a dissemination tool of the operation strategy in industries that compete in environmental sustainability. We used a qualitative methodology supported by cases studies, based on interviews with managers responsible for the production planning and control of four big Brazilian industries. The results indicated that PPC can be an efficient tool to dissiminate the operation strategy for its power of integration with the many key areas involved in an industry, what can bring pratical implications to the ones responsible for the formulation and implementation of the operation strategy. The result is of value because PPC can be used as an ally of the operation/production managers to promote and lead the implementation of the operation strategy on the shop floor.

Proposal of an Instrument to Verify the Adherence Between the Focus and the Practice of Production Planning and Control : A Study in the Metal-Mechanical Segment in Serra Gaúcha , Rio Grande Do Sul

2018

Choosing a Production Planning and Control (Planejamento e Controle da Produção – PCP) technique that is aligned with and is appropriate to a company’s production environment scenario is considered a crucial factor in its strategy. Such a choice may reflect on how the company manages its timing, inventory, and, consequently, its costs. This study proposes an instrument to evaluate the adherence between the focus and practices of PCP in companies. Six PCP techniques were considered within the scope of work in four production environments: Assemble to Order, Make to Stock, Engineer to Order, and Make to Order. The selected techniques were based on the work of Stevenson, Hendry and Kingsman (2005), and they three classic techniques – Material Requirements Planning, Drum Buffer Rope and Kanban and three emerging – Constant Work in Process, Workload Control and Paired cell Overlapping Loops of Cards with Authorization. Two different perspectives within a company were considered: the one ...

The DRAMA methodology for analysing strategy and its links with production system design

International Journal of Technology Management, 1991

Abstract: This paper describes a methodology:'decision rules for analyzing manufacturing activities', which is designed to be a practical system of enquiry linking a strategic analysis to the design of production systems. The paper describes the development of the system, an industry specific design methodology, into DRAMA II which is a model that serves as an analytical tool for studying decision processes and implementation of production systems.

Heuristic Methods As A Tool to Support Decision Making in Production Planning

2010

This study aims to explain the role of heuristic methods in the decision making process and as a tool for knowledge capture . As a result, we conclude that heuristic methods gives better support to the decision maker than mathematical models in many cases especially when time and cost are critical factors in knowledge capture and decision making.
