Health-promoting lifestyle behaviours of nursing students of a tertiary care institute

Background: In addition, Health promoting behaviours among the nursing students may affect the quality of patient education. Therefore, this study was undertaken to determine the health-promoting lifestyle behaviours of nursing students in a tertiary care institute, Maharashtra.Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on 124 nursing students. Health Promotion Lifestyle Profile Proforma (HPLP)was prepared which consists of two parts, Part I deals with the sociodemographic characteristics of the participants and Part II of the proforma deals with Health-promoting lifestyle information which was a modified version of Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile II (HPLP II). Aim: This study is planned with the purpose of studying changes in healthy life style behaviors (HLSB) of t he nursing students. Materials and Method: The study which was planned in a descriptive style was conducted in a School of Nursing / Nursing Faculty. The data was collected with a questionnaire that wa s prepared by the researchers and a healthy life style behaviors scale by making face to face interviews with the students in years of 2 004 and 2014. Change in the health promoting lifestyle behaviour of Turkish University nursing students from beginning to end of nurse training

In light of developments in science and technology, content has been added to the nursing curriculum to support and improve students' healthy lifestyle behaviours. The aim of this study was to determine whether any difference was observed in the behaviour of nursing students. This longitudinal and descriptive study was conducted with 57 students during 2002-2006 academic years Marmara University, School of Nursing. The ''health promotion lifestyle profile'' developed in 1987 by Pender et al. was evaluated as to its validity and reliability in Turkey by the HPLP (healthy lifestyle behaviour scale) adapted by Esin. Percentage, variance analysis, Cronbach a coefficient and the t-test were used in the analysis of data. The findings indicated that healthy lifestyle behaviours of nursing students changed over time, from when they began and at the end of every year during their nurse training.

Lifestyle Behaviors among Nursing Students in Hawler Medical University

Background and objective: The importance of proper nutrition and physical activity in reducing rates of disease and death from chronic diseases has been well established. Poor diet and physical inactivity cause deaths and are major contributors to disabilities that result from diabetes, obesity, and stroke. Drug abuse is a more intense and misuse of drugs can result in addiction. The objectives of this study were to identify lifestyle behaviors among students and to find out association between their lifestyles and some variables (sex, stage, and body mass index) in the College of Nursing in Erbil City. Methods: A descriptive, cross sectional study was conducted on 100 students from four stages in the College of Nursing (25 students from each stage) during the period December 2016 to April 2017. A questionnaire was composed of two parts, socio-demographic characteristics and questions related to lifestyle behaviors (three domains) among students in the college. Frequency, percentage and chi-square test was used for interpretation of data. Results: Most of the study sample was aged between 18 and 24 years old from urban areas. Near half of them was female and the highest percentage had normal weight based on body mass index assessment tool. There is a non-significant association between lifestyle behaviors and sex among the study sample (p-value 0.312, 0.346 and 0.385 respectively) and with body mass index in activity and nutrition (p-value 0.885 and 0.060 respectively). Conclusion: Most of the students sometimes practicing the different types of physical activities and exercises, while never abused of substances with sometimes eating more than usual of red meat, salt, and fatty foods. .

Health-promoting lifestyle behaviours of nursing students in a tertiary care institute of a city in western India

Nurses work on the front lines of disease cure and the delivery of health care. Like any other student, nursing students face environmental changes, changes in peer groups, social, economic or academic stress. Nursing students’ beliefs and behaviours could affect the clinical services, which they will offer to their patients. Knowledge Level and Health Promoting Lifestyle in Nursing Students

Objective: Nursing students have been taught about health promoting lifestyles, which should be applied in daily life. This study aimed to identify the correlation between knowledge level and health promoting lifestyle in nursing students from the Faculty of Nursing University in Indonesia. Methods: This cross-sectional study used a disproportionate stratified random sampling method to obtain 93 samples. Data were collected using a demographic questionnaire, a knowledge questionnaire about health promoting activities, and the Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile–II (HPLP-II) questionnaire. Results: The results showed a high knowledge level (59.1%) and a good health promoting lifestyle (M = 2.58, SD = 0.30). However, the Chi-square test showed no correlation between knowledge level and a health promoting lifestyle (p = 0.289). Factors affecting lifestyle become one of the most priorities of the research field, especially in adolescents and youth. Using a qualitative approach, this study aimed to understand what factors are affecting young people's healthy lifestyle. Using the conventional content analysis, and used the semi-structured in-depth interviews, we conducted a qualitative study to elicit the youth opinion considering their lifestyle affecting factors. Initially, purposeful sampling method was considered for data collection. Participants were selected from volunteered youths 18-30 years whom were selected from the Tehran city.
