The Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak was declared a public health emergency of international concern by the World Health Organisation. Pandemics can lead to increased level of stress and anxiety. This is especially true for COVID-19 when there is speculation surrounding the mode and rate of transmission, with the disease spreading at such a magnitude all around the globe. This online survey, related to the knowledge, attitude and anxiety about the novel Corona virus, was conducted among the urban population of Mumbai, India. A total of 155 responses were obtained. All the participants were above 18 years and of Indian origin. Among the participants, 74.2% were females and 25.8% were males. A majority of responders were aware of the basic knowledge of the disease COVID 19. About 65.2% participants reported that Corona virus can spread through touching, sneezing, kissing and food. Most of the participants had positive attitude towards the disease and the social practises related to the COVID 19. Majority of the participants complained of high anxiety and stress related to their personal hygiene, keeping a stock of all the essentials in their home and a constant fear of getting infected. Conclusion-There is moderate level of awareness about the knowledge related to the mode and spread of COVID 19 among the study population due to their high level of education and internet access. Though there is a positive attitude towards the practise of COVID protocol like isolation and the need for avoiding crowded places, there is still fear of getting infected among the study population.
A Study on Awareness of Corona Virus
Aalochan Drishti, 2020
The Corona virus disease, popularly known as COVID-19, has emerged as a severe health pandemic which has spread across the globe. It has created havoc in countries including the bigwigs like the United States, Italy, China, among more than 200 nations. The global pandemic has haunted all most each and every part of the world, taking a heavy toll on the human life and world economy. India is also not left untouched by the mayhem of the deadly contiguous virus that spreads from human to human. In the past decade, India and the world has witnessed several health outbreaks ranging from H1N1 to Zika and Nipah which were successfully tackled by the government and the designated authorities. But Corona is something bigger as it has brought the global momentum to a standstill with every continent, country, state, district and the smallest of block keeping no stone unturned to check the spread of the invisible enemy. With its 1.3 billion populations, India is at constant risk of rapid spread of infection as the densely populated states with resource-constrained environments derail the speed of the fight against COVID-19. The virus positive persons are increasing day by day in the country. The current study aims to investigate the people of Brahmpur village in Buxar district of Bihar about their level of understanding of the disease and their awareness about the relief measures against it. The study will help to estimate the ground realities of the level of awareness that the people residing in Brahmpur village have and will further aid the local authorities to make necessary changes for the proper execution of lockdown with minimal impact to the mankind. The method of research adopted for the study is survey, in which people residing in Brahmpur village, during the lockdown period i.e. March 23, 2020 to April 26, 2020, have been interrogated with the help of interview/scheduled prepared for the study. The study will try to understand at micro level the degree of awareness among the people and their self-regulation to fight the virus.
Knowledge, attitude, and perception of Indian population toward coronavirus disease (COVID-19)
Journal of Family Medicine and Primary Care, 2020
Background: Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has spread very fast worldwide as a pandemic causing unprecedented morbidity and mortality. Most countries in the world have undergone emergency lockdown in an attempt to flatten the curve and reduce the load on healthcare systems. Objective: This study was done to assess the knowledge, attitude, and perception toward the disease among the home-bound Indian population during the lockdown. Methodology: This was a questionnaire-based descriptive cross-sectional study conducted online. Compilation and assessment of the online data in the form of responses were done as for descriptive studies. Results: Among the 320 participants of the study, the awareness about the epidemiological features, including the signs and symptoms of the disease, was very good (more than 99% in some aspects). The attitude toward the measures for prevention of disease at home and outside was also very good (more than 97%) in some aspects, with a scope of improvement in a few others. Only one-third had the knowledge of online (e-consultation) services floated by governments and hospitals for medical advice. Ten percent had the potential to misuse drugs as prophylaxis. Most of the participants perceived that they had no predictable idea about the shape of disease epidemiology in the near future and only hoped for things to get better. Conclusion: This study reflects that aggressive awareness drives have played an important role in the dissemination of knowledge and the development of informed positive attitude toward COVID-19. Few gaps in knowledge and practices related to disease epidemiology, safe practices, mobile app for tracking and the availability of e-resources for medical advice, still remain. These should be addressed more aggressively, to strengthen the efforts to overcome this unprecedented crisis.

Coronavirus is a single stranded RNA virus caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The first case was reported on December 1, 2019 then it was distinguished as coronavirus by Chinese authorities. Covid-19 is different from both MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV and is considered as the seventh member of the coronavirus family that affects people. These spread through droplets or by a virus that may travel in the air from the suspect to the nearby person. Based on the current status it is obvious that the elderly population is most affected. It primarily affects the upper respiratory tract followed by severe pneumonia. This study aims to assess and compare the Knowledge, Attitude and Perception of the general population in South India through a cross-section survey. Questionaries were sent to 800 people out of which 500 responded. The data were collected using google form and the results were interpreted. Among the responses, it was clear that the population has acquired adequate knowledge about the pandemics and they tend to act wisely to overcome them.

Of late, the second wave of the infection and new variants of the virus have also surfaced across various latitudes and longitudes of the globe. Various control measures have been adopted globally, however, the success and effectiveness of the control measures are affected by people’s knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) towards the pandemic. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the level of KAP toward COVID-19 among the Indian public. A cross-sectional online survey of Indian public was conducted between 18th May 2020 and 24th June 2020.
