These patterns can be expressed in archetype. Entrepreneurs also share a set of cultural and social values, some of which are based on the values held by the community. However, research on entrepreneurial personality as a whole in the context of Indonesian culture, is still needed This study aims to look at entrepreneurship as the dynamic's perspective of the personality narrative life stories and archetype of the cultural context in Indonesia. In addition, this study seeks non-economic factors, such as entrepreneurial personality and culture, affect the dynamics of the performance of a startup business. Through the study of archetype theory and narrative life story, it can be proposed a measuring tool that can explain the concept of entrepreneurial archetype personality in the Indonesian context. This archetype personality measurement tool uses a life story perspective that sees the dynamics of entrepreneurial journey as an archetype hero journey

Assessment of Eight Entrepreneurial Personality Dimensions: Validity Evidence of the BEPE Battery

Frontiers in Psychology, 2018

Background: The study of entrepreneurial activity has undergone intense development in recent decades. Traditionally this topic has been addressed from three approaches: economic, sociological and psychological. In the study of enterprising personality, two fundamental perspectives stand out: the use of general personality traits, like the Big Five, and the use of more specific traits related to entrepreneurial spirit, such as selfefficacy, autonomy, innovation, optimism, and others. The objective of this study is to provide validity evidence for a new instrument for measuring eight specific dimensions of entrepreneurial personality (BEPE). Methods: The sample was composed of 1,170 adults from the general population (59.9% women). The average age was 42.34 years with a standard deviation of 12.96. Of the sample, 13% were self-employed. Internal factorial structure and reliability of BEPE were examined. The relationships with other variables and the discriminative capacity of the BEPE between different groups of workers were analyzed. Results: First order exploratory factor analyses show the essential unidimensionality of each of the eight proposed sub-scales, with factorial weights ranging between 0.341 and 0.825. In the Confirmatory Factor Analysis, the best fit was achieved with a Bifactor model. With regards to reliability, the eight BEPE sub-scales gave high alpha coefficient values, between 0.81 and 0.89, as did the total battery (0.97). BEPE sub-scales show a high canonical correlation with the Big Five personality factors (0.796) and with the sub-scales of the Measure of Entrepreneurial Talents and Abilities questionnaire (0.779). Conclusion: The BEPE questionnaire for the evaluation of the eight fundamental specific dimensions of the entrepreneurial personality presents adequate psychometric properties. Its relationships with other measures of personality traits are in line with what is expected. Therefore, the BEPE is a new measurement instrument that can be used with confidence both in the applied field and in research.

Entrepreneurial Personality: A Configurational Approach

Colombo Business Journal

Entrepreneurial personality research can be said to be at crossroads as researchers are unable to formulate an approach that has predictive and explanatory powers. The developments in personality research have prompted entrepreneurial personality researchers to suggest a model that is capable of explaining the structure and processes of entrepreneurial personality. The configurational model suggested in this paper draws upon the trait dynamics and the Cognitive-Affective Personality System theory of personality reflecting the features of a total system view of entrepreneurial personality that clearly differentiates the patterns of entrepreneurial and non-entrepreneurial behaviours. Trait theory and the Cognitive-Affective Personality System theory variables delve into the deeper psychological processes to identify the basic structure and the processes of entrepreneurial personality. The configurational dynamics espouse the general pattern of entrepreneurial personality in an interactive and mediating relation among the intraindividual structures including the situation. The configurational dynamics further identify and differentiate the specific entrepreneurial personality constructs that researchers and practitioners frequently refer to.

They are also relevant in predicting entrepreneurial intention (C+, O+, NÀ, E+) and entrepreneurs' performance (C+, O+, E+, NÀ). For other more specific scales that have frequently enough been used and could therefore be included in meta-analyses (e.g., readiness for innovation , proactive personality, generalized self-efficacy, stress tolerance, need for autonomy, locus of control) have also been reported significant correlations with business creation and business success. PERSONALITY CHARACTERISTICS AND BUSINESS PHILOSOPHY: AN ENTREPRENEURSHIP EXPERIMENT

PERSONALITY CHARACTERISTICS AND BUSINESS PHILOSOPHY: AN ENTREPRENEURSHIP EXPERIMENT, 2016

Although entrepreneurship field can be considered partially as a habitat or cultural phenomenon, most of the studies in the area focus on individual entrepreneur and his/her personality characteristics and demographics. The main logic behind this tendency is that the individual entrepreneur has unique traits than the rest of the population. This trait approach is called " personality traits theory " and assumes that entrepreneurs are born with certain qualities that naturally make them entrepreneurs (Gartner 1988; Koh, 1996; Littunen, 2000; Simpeh 2011). However the trait model is still not acceptable and completely supported by research evidence (Simpeh 2011). Therefore it still remains as a valuable and promising research domain because identifying these unique personality traits may let us identify successful entrepreneur candidates especially at business schools. Once these candidates are recognized they may be guided and encouraged to start a new venture. Accordingly it is crucial that we have robust tools to identify those capable of starting a new business. With this purpose we find it necessary to create a new personality scale based on DISC scale's dimensions which will help us measure entrepreneurial personality. The main purpose of this research is to create a valid scale to assess entrepreneurial personality and to investigate personality's effects on business plan. Another purpose of this study is to reveal the type of personality which is more prone to create successful ventures. We also aim to investigate that similarities and differences between business plans prepared by same personality types. Last but not least we evaluated the probability of success of business plans and we assume that success is predictable through personality.
