The digitization of the media, their software and hardware combination of computers and the development of networks and their dissemination have made distance learning the subject of research, implementation of practical and scientific reflection once again. Those actions are promoted not only by the development of ICT, but also by progressive globalization, demographic changes and economic and cultural challenges. The scientific discourse is also a part of Polish experiences. The previous treatment of the subject of this paper were historical in nature, fragmentary or were descriptions of individual experiments and experiences of individual universities. Presented approach has not only a synthetic character, but also provides an outline of the original, the Polish concept of teaching – blended learning.

Trend of Distance Education in the last three Decades

In the literature, there weren't any up-to-date reviews of Distance Education (DE) documents. This reveals that there was a research gap for a detailed review of distance education articles to find an up-to-date trend of distance education. The purpose of this study is to examine research and trends in DE, from the 160 selected documents, during 1972 and 2008 June. Romanian Graduates’ Opinions on Distance Learning

Graduates of distance learning from Romania have met in the early years of development of this type of education a number of obstacles, mainly due to lack of public information on this form of higher education. To record the way the graduates appreciate the quality of the undertaken studies and their recommendations for developing this form of education, we conducted a nationa l research in May 2011. The r establishment of the actions needed for a better correlation between distance learning and the requirements of the labour mar ket and of the knowledge-based society. In order t-based survey was held and 904 graduates answered. The results showed that the graduates of this form of education do not consider themselves inferior to those who graduated other forms of education. People with reduced availability of time and people involved in vocational/professional activities accept distance education better than daily classes. Moreover, the results indicate that t he form of distance learning is preferred by adults because it offers them a real chance to continue their education and lifelong learning, even if they are actively involved in other activities, too. The impact of distance learning is positive on the graduates of this form of education. However, the graduates demonstrate realism and accept the idea that the system can be improved, especially regarding the way of assessing the knowledge and the relationships with their teachers during the years of study. The analysis of the items regarding the assessment of their training quality shows that, in relation to graduates of other forms of education, a significant number of the surveyed people consider that they are as well as or better trained professionally.

Distance education as one of the new and perspective forms of completing higher education increases in popularity around the world. At the same time, the development of this model of education generates new problems: organization of the study process and information security. Distance learning allows solving a problem of accessibility of higher education in case of social issues, working hours, etc. Therefore, distance education is of major importance in increasing the learning efficiency. Distance learning provides the most exciting challenge to the status quo, especially as it becomes clear that many remote parts of the world will have Internet access long before they enjoy decent roads. The Task Force on Higher Education and Society brought together 14 educational experts from 13 countries with the intention to start an ongoing debate, not to answer all the questions. We firmly believe that rapid progress can be made, but only with political will, new resources, and people prepared to contemplate and develop imaginative solutions. At the report’s launch, Wolfensohn asked why we needed such a document when what is being said is absolutely straightforward. “We need it,” he said, “because we’ve forgotten it, because we don’t give higher education the weighting that is required.” We wholeheartedly agree.

Problems of Distance Education

Distance learning and e-learning have significantly developed in recent years. It is also due to changing educational requirements, especially for adults. The article aims to show the advantages and disadvantages of distance learning. Examples of the 20-year use of the distance learning form of computer science describe the difficulties associated with the implementation and implementation of this form of teaching. The results of students in the full-time and distance form of teaching in the bachelor’s study of computer science are compared. Long-term findings show that distant students have significantly lower scores in the first years of study than full-time bachelor students. In the following years of study, the differences diminish, and students’ results are comparable. The article describes the possibilities of improving the quality of distance learning.

It has been alleged that perpetuation of inequality. It is middle class oriented the urban areas and the middle and upper class are its beneficiaries. The great masses of the people have had little or no schooling. For universalisation of education the government is preparing blueprints for opening new schools in the line of non-formal system. These open new frontiers of knowledge and democratize the teaching-learning process in general.
